Part of: The Complete Guide to the SCRA

Toyota Financial Services, which also books Lexus Financial Services deals, is one of the largest auto lenders and lessors in the country. It does publish a military-benefits page, but be ready for how little it says. The page confirms that SCRA benefits exist and lists who qualifies, then hands you to a base legal-assistance office and a general customer-service line. The 6% cap does not depend on Toyota printing it, though.

On a $25,000 loan, cutting 9% down to 6% forgives roughly $750 a year in interest, and the statute forgives that slice rather than adding it to the back of the loan. Run your numbers through the savings calculator before you call, so you know what the corrected payment should look like.

The law carries this one, not the FAQ

Toyota never prints a rate on its page. That is not a loophole. Section 3937 caps interest at 6% per year on any debt you took on before active duty, folds late and transaction fees into that ceiling, and forgives everything above it. It binds Toyota Financial whether or not the number shows up in a help article. Your job is to trigger the cap in writing and then check that the corrected rate and the backdated credit actually post.

Filing when the servicer stays vague

File your SCRA request with Toyota Financial

  1. Confirm the Toyota or Lexus Financial contract predates your active-duty start date.
  2. Call general customer service at 1-800-874-8822 (Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. local time) and ask to open an SCRA request (verified July 2026).
  3. Follow the call with written notice and a copy of your orders, or a § 3937 letter from the letter generator, so there is a dated paper trail the phone call alone will not leave you.
  4. Because the page offers no timeline, ask for a target date and a written confirmation of the 6% rate and the retroactive adjustment.
  5. If Toyota stalls or demands something the statute does not require, escalate. See how to make a lender pay.

Lease, loan, and the AutoCheque wrinkle

Leases exit through a different door. Toyota writes an enormous volume of leases. Ending one early on PCS or deployment orders is a § 3955 termination, not a rate cut, and it is penalty-free when you qualify. Walk through it in the lease termination guide.

Automatic payments keep running. If you pay Toyota by AutoCheque or another autopay, the draft does not shrink the moment benefits post. Confirm the new payment amount and watch the first statement so you are not overpaying against the capped balance.

Pre-service only. A Toyota loan you signed after active duty began is governed by the Military Lending Act, not the SCRA 6% cap. Which law applies turns on the date you signed, not the date you filed.

Your confirmation letter is the whole record. With no published rate and no published process, the letter Toyota sends back is the only proof of what it agreed to. Save it, and compare how little Toyota discloses against the lenders that publish everything on the bank leaderboard.

The law behind this: 50 U.S.C. § 3937

Maximum rate of interest on debts incurred before military service: read the statute.

Frequently asked questions

What interest rate does Toyota Financial use for SCRA benefits?

The statutory 6% per year on eligible pre-service loans. The Toyota military-benefits page does not print a rate figure, but the SCRA sets a 6% ceiling on debt you took on before active duty, and it binds Toyota like any lender. Get the applied rate confirmed in writing when your request is processed.

Who do I contact at Toyota Financial to start an SCRA request?

Toyota publishes no dedicated SCRA phone line or address. Call general customer service at 1-800-874-8822, Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. local time, to open the request, then follow up with written notice and a copy of your orders. The Toyota page also suggests contacting a base Armed Forces Legal Assistance office.

Can Toyota terminate my lease under the SCRA?

Yes, for a qualifying lease you signed before active duty, or before receiving permanent change of station or deployment orders. Toyota Financial is one of the largest auto lessors, and motor-vehicle lease termination is a distinct SCRA right under Section 3955, not the 6% loan cap. Put the termination request in writing and keep the confirmation.
