U-Pack’s military discount is a flat $100. Active-duty members enter DITY10 and veterans enter MIL50 for $50, according to a U-Pack article dated September 30, 2026. That pairs with the add-on a personally procured move (PPM) needs: certified weight tickets, which U-Pack’s tariff, issued by ArcBest, prices at $150 per shipment. The code pays for two-thirds of the tickets.

The bigger money on a U-Pack move is in the fine print, not the code. U-Pack is a long-distance service where you pack and load and U-Pack does the driving, and the rules for what happens when you cannot take delivery live in Tariff ARC 400, effective March 15, 2026. Those rules set daily detention charges, a 120-day limit on trailer storage, and an auction process that, unusually, mentions the Servicemembers Civil Relief Act by name.

Read October 19, 2026. One conflict deserves a flag. U-Pack’s FAQ says detention and storage accrue at “$50/day per ReloCube and $250/day per trailer,” while the tariff’s Appendix A lists “$150.00 per day per ReloCube or other moving container,” and its Detention Fees section calls Appendix A the minimum, with any higher rate shown on your bill of lading or reservation confirmation. Accepting or signing either one counts as accepting that higher rate. Read that line before you sign.

The PPM math with DITY10

U-Pack publishes real price examples. Its trailer cost article lists March 2026 quotes for a Plano, Texas to Lexington, Kentucky move of 875 miles: $1,573 for the 5-linear-foot minimum and $5,027 for a whole trailer. Prices vary, so treat these as illustrations.

DITY10minus $100minus $100
Certified weight ticketsplus $150plus $150
Total with code and tickets$1,623$5,077

A flat $100 is 6.4 percent of the small move and 2 percent of the full trailer. U-Pack charges the card on file once the equipment is picked up and in transit, not at reservation. Military OneSource, read October 19, 2026, says most services can advance up to 60 percent of the PPM incentive if you need cash before that charge, and the paperwork, both weight tickets included, is due within 45 days of the planned start date. How the incentive itself is calculated is in PCS money moves.

When the new house is not ready

The tariff holds a shipment at the destination service center for up to two business days free. After that, unless storage was arranged in advance, detention runs per day. Seven extra days with a trailer at the $250 tariff minimum is $1,750, which is why storage should go on the reservation before you need it.

Storage-in-transit is billed in 30-day increments, starts when the shipment reaches the service center, and is not prorated. You cannot get into it until delivery, and U-Pack’s FAQ says its storage locations are not climate controlled. U-Pack’s storage page says ReloCubes can stay as long as you need, but trailers can stay no more than 120 days. Past 120 days without instructions, the tariff treats a trailer shipment as undeliverable. A 9-month deployment does not fit in a trailer; choose ReloCubes or move the goods into a storage unit.

U-Pack’s FAQ says it can deliver to military bases in the U.S. The tariff makes access your job: you must make sure the destination will take delivery without ArcBest having to obtain “licenses, permits or any other authorization,” and you pay fines for placing the equipment. If the gate turns the truck away, the tariff charges $150 for each new delivery attempt you request.

What the tariff says about an auction

The tariff’s Undeliverable Shipments section covers what happens when ArcBest cannot deliver. It sends a first notice, then a second and final notice if it gets no instructions and payment within 48 hours, and that notice warns that if no instructions arrive within 10 days, ArcBest “may offer the personal effects and/or other commodities for sale at a public auction.” Sale money goes to ArcBest’s charges, you owe any shortfall, and any surplus is paid to you on claim.

The same section opens with an exception that is easy to miss. Its notice process runs “unless you notify ArcBest that you are a service member and eligible for relief under the Service Members Civil Relief Act.” The tariff does not say what ArcBest does instead. Federal law does. Section 3958(a)(1) reads: “A person holding a lien on the property or effects of a servicemember may not, during any period of military service of the servicemember and for 90 days thereafter, foreclose or enforce any lien on such property or effects without a court order granted before foreclosure or enforcement.” The SCRA storage lien page walks through the court step, including the stay a judge can grant under § 3958(b).

That makes your written notice the trigger the tariff itself names. Reservists are covered starting the day orders are received, per § 3917(a), and the Guard and Reserve coverage rules list which orders qualify.

Book a U-Pack PPM without the expensive surprises

  1. Enter DITY10 (active duty) or MIL50 (veterans) on the quote and confirm the discount appears before you reserve.
  2. Request certified weight tickets during the reservation and expect $150 per shipment. Keep both tickets and every receipt for your transportation office.
  3. If housing may not be ready, add storage to the reservation. For anything longer than 120 days, use ReloCubes, not a trailer.
  4. Get base housing and gate approval for delivery in writing before the date, since the tariff makes access your responsibility.
  5. Email moving@upack.com a copy of your orders, the date your service is set to end, a DMDC printout of your active-duty status, and a stateside contact, stating that you are a servicemember eligible for SCRA relief. Ask that it be noted on the bill of lading.
  6. Name the person who can give ArcBest disposition instructions while you are away, and back that up with a power of attorney (see the guide for military spouses and families).
  7. If an auction notice arrives anyway, answer it in writing, cite § 3958, and bring it to legal assistance or an attorney listed in the SCRA lawyer directory. Goods already sold without a court order may support a suit; the enforcement page explains how.
The law behind this: 50 U.S.C. § 3958

Enforcement of storage liens: read the statute , or read § 3958 in plain English, with its enforcement record .

Frequently asked questions

Does U-Pack offer a military discount?

Yes, as a flat dollar amount. U-Pack's Military Moving Discounts article, dated September 30, 2026 and read October 19, 2026, says active-duty military can use code DITY10 for $100 off their move and veterans can use code MIL50 for a $50 discount. U-Pack's military moving page says the discounts work online or over the phone at 888-891-9314. Neither page lists exclusions, so confirm the code shows on your quote before you reserve.

What is the U-Pack military discount code?

DITY10 for active duty, worth $100, and MIL50 for veterans, worth $50, per U-Pack's article dated September 30, 2026. On U-Pack's March 2026 price example for a 5-foot trailer move from Plano, Texas to Lexington, Kentucky, $1,573, DITY10 brings the total to $1,473. On the full-trailer price for the same route, $5,027, the same $100 is about 2 percent. The code is a fixed amount, so it matters most on small moves.

Does U-Pack provide weight tickets for a PPM?

Yes, for a fee. U-Pack's weight ticket article says to request them during your reservation and that it charges $150 for the service. ArcBest's Tariff ARC 400, effective March 15, 2026, lists certified weight tickets at $150 per shipment and says it will arrange weighing on a certified scale. Military OneSource lists both a full and an empty ticket as required PPM paperwork, due within 45 days of the planned start of your move.

Can U-Pack deliver to a military base?

U-Pack's FAQ, read October 19, 2026, says it can deliver to military bases in the U.S. The tariff puts the access problem on you: you must make sure the destination lets ArcBest deliver without it having to obtain licenses, permits, or other authorization, and you pay any fines tied to placing the equipment. A redelivery after a failed attempt costs $150 per occurrence under the tariff. Clear the delivery with the housing office and the gate before the date.

Can U-Pack auction my belongings while I am deployed?

Its tariff describes an auction for undeliverable shipments: a first notice, a second and final notice if nothing comes back within 48 hours, then a possible public auction if no instructions arrive within 10 days. That process applies unless you notify ArcBest that you are a servicemember eligible for SCRA relief. Federal law adds a hard stop: under 50 U.S.C. § 3958, no lienholder may enforce a lien on a servicemember's property during service or 90 days after without a court order.
