Corrections log
A guide about the law is only useful if it is right. When we find a factual error, an outdated figure, or a claim a source does not support, we fix the page and record it here: what the page said, what it says now, and the source that settled it. Rates that change on schedule, like an issuer repricing, are logged the same way. Wording and layout edits are not.
Spotted something wrong? Send the page and the source that contradicts it through the contact page. How we check facts is on How We Verify, and the rules we follow are in the Editorial Policy.

· /defend-your-rights/scra-custody-divorce/
Said: Said "roughly 18 states" have enacted the Uniform Deployed Parents Custody and Visitation Act.
Now: The count could not be verified on the Uniform Law Commission site, so it was removed; the page points readers to the Commission’s enactment list.
-
· /strategies/best-bank-for-military/
Said: Gave Chase, Bank of America, Capital One and PenFed a check mark for early military pay.
Now: None of their own pages say so (all searched October 5, 2026); the column now reads "Not on its pages".
-
· /interest-rate-cap/bank-of-america-scra/
Said: Attributed the 180-day window to file an SCRA request to Bank of America.
Now: The 180-day window is the statute’s (50 U.S.C. § 3937(b)(1)(A)); Bank of America’s pages and form do not state it.
-
· /mla/
Said: The "What Is the Military Lending Act" guide said MLA coverage lasts for the life of the loan.
Now: Under 32 CFR 232.3(g)(4), a borrower stops being covered once no longer a covered member or dependent. The guide was merged into the MLA hub with the rule stated correctly.
-
· /interest-rate-cap/scra-student-loan-servicer-guide/
Said: Said the number of servicemembers getting the student loan cap "rose more than 400%" after servicers began automatic matching.
Now: GAO-17-4’s text says the number increased but the 400% figure could not be verified there, so the page now quotes what GAO states.
-
· /interest-rate-cap/military-star-card-scra/
Said: Printed a 13.74% Retail Plan APR and 21.74% penalty APR, and savings figures based on them.
Now: The Exchange Credit Program repriced on September 17, 2026 to 13.99% and 21.99%; the page and the savings math were updated from its disclosures.
-

-
· /interest-rate-cap/chase-scra/
Said: Stated a $0 MLA annual fee as Chase policy.
Now: Chase’s SCRA page states no fee policy; the fee waiver is now marked as reported, not printed by Chase.
-
· /strategies/military-emergency-relief-societies/
Said: Described AER’s Commander’s Referral and a Red Cross route, and Falcon Assistance as a separate AFAS program.
Now: AER’s program is now Quick Assist and no longer routes through the Red Cross; AFAS folded Falcon Assistance into one application on June 1, 2025.
-
· /strategies/military-car-tax-exemption/
Said: A heading said claiming the military car tax exemption takes one document.
Now: State-by-state research disproved it: the process and paperwork differ by state, and several states publish no statewide form.
-
· Several pages
Said: Two eligibility pages said a DMDC Single Record Request needs no account.
Now: DMDC now requires a free account for Single Record Requests.
-
· /lease-termination/cancel-phone-cable-internet-military/ , /tools/letter-generator/
Said: Said the § 3956 contract-termination right is triggered by entering service.
Now: It is triggered by orders to relocate for 90 days or more to a location that does not support the contract, or by a stop-movement order (§ 3956(a)(1)).
-

Said: Four auto pages said a car loan taken out during service falls under the Military Lending Act.
Now: A loan to buy a vehicle that is secured by that vehicle is excluded from the MLA (32 CFR 232.3(f)).
-
· /interest-rate-cap/barclays-scra/ , /interest-rate-cap/synchrony-scra/

Now: The domain dates to June 9, 2024; 2026 is the rebuild of the current site.
-
· /interest-rate-cap/scra-benefits-by-bank/
Said: Listed Barclays and Citi at 0% and Chase at 4%, rates traced to secondary military blogs.
Now: Barclays’ page says "capped at no more than 6%", and Citi and Chase publish no rate. All three now show the 6% statutory floor. The same review added Bank of America’s published 4% on mortgages it owns and services.
-
· /lease-termination/cancel-phone-cable-internet-military/
Said: Said gym memberships and home security contracts are not covered by § 3956.
Now: Both are covered (§ 3956(b)(1)(E) and (F)).
-

-
· Several pages
Said: Cited life insurance protections as 50 U.S.C. §§ 4021-4027, and used outdated DOJ civil penalty figures.
