What Ford Credit owes you

The cap is retroactive to your first day of active duty, and the excess interest is forgiven rather than deferred. Put your numbers in to see the size of your claim, then generate the letter that asks for it.

Simple-interest estimate on a fixed balance, capped at 6%: the 6% statutory ceiling (50 U.S.C. § 3937). Ford Credit publishes no lower rate, so 6% is your guaranteed floor. A revolving balance that moved over the period will differ. It sizes the claim; it is not an amortization schedule and not legal advice.

Write the letter to Ford Credit

Written notice is what starts the clock. Fill these in and the letter below is yours to copy, print, and send with a copy of your orders.

Where to send it: Account Manager: Self-Services, then select SCRA in the drop-down; also an SCRA Secure Form on the Contact Ford Credit page Ford Credit states it takes A representative will reply to valid requests within one to two business days (SCRA Secure Form page).

Nothing you type here leaves your browser. The letter is built on this device.

Ford Credit puts the SCRA 6% cap in writing. Two Ford documents carry its program: a one-page SCRA sheet in PDF and an FAQ answer in Ford’s support center, both live on ford.com when read on October 10, 2026. The sheet’s file properties show it was last edited in December 2021, so treat its address and phone as the current published record, not a fresh promise. Together they tell you what Ford Credit will do and where to send your orders. The 6% cap itself comes from federal law, so it binds Ford Credit whether or not you ever read either page.

Here is what it is worth. Take a $45,000 F-150 retail contract at 8.9%, signed before you went on active duty (an illustration, not a Ford figure; Ford Credit publishes no rate table). Capping it at 6% removes 2.9 points, about $1,305 of interest a year if the balance held flat, or roughly $109 a month. A loan you are paying down saves a little less each month. Section 3937(a)(3) requires Ford Credit to cut the monthly payment by that forgiven amount, and its own sheet lists “a reduction in the periodic payments” as a benefit. Run your contract through the savings calculator before you file.

The rate, payment, lease and repossession rows come from the PDF. The upload path, fax number and database check come from the FAQ. The form reply time and phone hours come from Ford Credit’s contact pages. No Ford page offers a rate below 6%, and none promises a fee waiver.

Which channel actually carries your orders

The law is specific about what starts the clock. Section 3937(b)(1) says you must give the creditor “written notice and a copy of” your orders, or another appropriate indicator of service such as a certified letter from your commanding officer, no later than 180 days after you leave service. A phone call is not that.

That matters because the fastest-looking Ford channel is the weakest. The SCRA Secure Form, as served on October 10, 2026, has a 550-character message box and no file-upload field, even with the SCRA category selected. Use it to open the request and get the one to two business day reply, but put the orders themselves somewhere that holds a document:

  • Account Manager. Sign in, open Self-Services, and pick SCRA from the drop-down. This is the route Ford lists first, and it leaves a record inside your account.
  • Fax to (888) 220-9472. Keep the transmission report with a page count.
  • Mail to the Tampa box. Ford’s FAQ also allows a private business carrier but asks you to contact Ford Credit first for details. A P.O. box generally cannot take a FedEx or UPS delivery, so for tracked proof to the Tampa box use USPS Certified Mail with a return receipt.

Ford Credit also checks the Defense Manpower Data Center. Do not lean on that. Under § 3937(b)(1)(B), a creditor that pulls a database record showing you not on active duty, and never receives your notice within the 180 days, has a safe harbor. A Guard or Reserve member whose orders have not hit the database yet is exactly the person that check misses. Read the DMDC certificate guide and send the paper yourself.

The “military discount” is a purchase offer

People search “Ford Credit military discount.” The answer on the loan is no: Ford Credit’s SCRA pages list a 6% ceiling and nothing below it. The offer that does exist belongs to Ford Motor Company. Its Military Recognition program at fordrecognizesu.com offers an exclusive cash reward toward the purchase or lease of an eligible new Ford or Lincoln. Its FAQ, read October 10, 2026, says the program runs January 6, 2026 to January 4, 2027, the amount “may vary by market,” and you see your figure only after entering a ZIP code and verifying through ID.me. It covers up to five new vehicles per calendar year, includes spouses and household members, and points members stationed overseas to Military AutoSource.

Do the math before you trade. A new Ford Credit contract signed while you serve is a debt incurred during service, so § 3937 does not cap it. The Military Lending Act does not reach it either: 32 CFR 232.3(f)(2)(ii) excludes credit “expressly intended to finance the purchase of a motor vehicle” when the vehicle secures it. If your pre-service F-150 is capped at 6% and saving you $1,305 a year, a cash reward has to beat that saving over the life of the new loan, at whatever rate you sign. Sort out which law covers which debt in MLA vs SCRA.

Leases and repossession

Ford Credit writes leases as well as retail contracts, and its sheet lists early lease termination. That right runs through 50 U.S.C. § 3955, not the rate cap. For a lease signed before service, your orders must specify “a period of not less than 180 days.” For a lease signed while serving, you need a permanent change of station from the continental United States to outside it, or from a state outside the continental United States to anywhere outside that state, or a deployment of not less than 180 days, or, for a lease signed on receipt of such orders, a stop movement order of at least 30 days. Deliver notice and orders, then return the vehicle within 15 days. Section 3955(e)(2) says the lessor “may not impose an early termination charge,” though taxes, title and registration fees, and reasonable excess wear or mileage charges stay with you, and lease amounts paid in advance must be refunded within 30 days. The car lease termination guide walks the return.

On a retail contract where you paid a deposit or an installment before entering service, § 3952 bars repossession for a breach “without a court order.” The repossession guide covers what to do if a tow truck shows up anyway. The site’s enforcement ledger lists no SCRA case against Ford Credit as of October 10, 2026.

Get the 6% cap on a Ford Credit contract

  1. Find your account number and confirm the contract date falls before your active-duty start date.
  2. Write the request with the letter generator: name the benefit (rate cap, lease termination, or both), your full name, account number, and the best way to reach you, as Ford’s SCRA sheet asks.
  3. Send the letter with a copy of your orders through Account Manager (Self-Services, then SCRA), by fax to (888) 220-9472, or by Certified Mail to Ford Credit, Attn: SCRA Request, P.O. Box 31111, Tampa, FL 33631.
  4. Optionally open the SCRA Secure Form too, which replies within one to two business days, but do not count it as your written notice.
  5. File as soon as you have orders and no later than 180 days after release. Check the deadline checker if you are near the edge.
  6. On the next statement, confirm a 6% rate effective from your call-up date and a lower payment. Estimate the backdated credit with the refund calculator.

Frequently asked questions

What SCRA benefits does Ford Credit list?

Ford Credit's one-page SCRA sheet on ford.com, read October 10, 2026, says benefits may include a reduction of your interest rate and, if your rate exceeds 6%, an interest rate cap of 6% during the eligibility period, forgiveness of interest above the cap, and a reduction in the periodic payments that come due during that period. It also lists early termination of a motor vehicle lease and protection against repossession, and says benefits vary with your military status and when you signed the contract. The cap only reaches a contract signed before active duty, under 50 U.S.C. § 3937, and the forgiven interest is gone for good, not added to the end of the loan.

How do I send my military orders to Ford Credit?

Ford Credit's FAQ gives four routes: upload them in Account Manager under Self-Services by choosing SCRA from the drop-down, fax them to (888) 220-9472, send them by mail or private business carrier, or use secure email through Contact Us. For mail, fax, or secure email, the FAQ asks you to contact Ford Credit first, and the secure form has no upload field. Its SCRA sheet gives the mailing address as Ford Credit, Attn: SCRA Request, P.O. Box 31111, Tampa, FL 33631, and asks for a copy of your orders, a written request naming the benefit you want, your full name and account number, and the best way to reach you. All read October 10, 2026.

Does Ford Credit have a military discount?

Not on the loan. Ford Credit's SCRA pages offer no rate below 6% and no military rate discount. The offer people mean is Ford Motor Company's Military Recognition cash reward, run at fordrecognizesu.com, which its FAQ says is valid January 6, 2026 to January 4, 2027, may vary by market (you see the amount after entering a ZIP code), is verified through ID.me, and applies to up to five new Ford or Lincoln purchases or leases per calendar year. It lowers the price of a new vehicle. It does nothing for the interest rate on a loan you already have.

How long does Ford Credit take to answer an SCRA request?

The only timeline Ford Credit prints is on its SCRA Secure Form page: a representative will reply to valid requests within one to two business days (read October 10, 2026). The SCRA sheet and the FAQ give no processing time for faxed or mailed orders. Whatever the speed, the cap reaches back to the date you were called to service under § 3937(b)(2), so a slow reply does not cost you the backdated credit as long as your written notice and orders were delivered.

Can I end a Ford Credit lease early because of military orders?

Yes, if your orders fit 50 U.S.C. § 3955. A lease signed before service qualifies when you enter service under orders of 180 days or more. A lease signed while serving qualifies on a permanent change of station from the continental U.S. to outside it, or from Alaska, Hawaii, or a territory to anywhere outside that state, or on a deployment of 180 days or more. A lease signed on receipt of such orders also qualifies if a stop movement order of 30 days or more then keeps you from using the car. Deliver written notice and a copy of orders, then return the vehicle within 15 days. No early termination charge applies, and lease amounts paid in advance come back within 30 days.

Does the 6% cap apply to a Ford I financed while on active duty?

No. Section 3937 caps only an obligation incurred before you entered military service, so a Ford Credit contract signed after your active-duty start date carries whatever rate you agreed to. The Military Lending Act does not reach it either, because 32 CFR 232.3(f)(2)(ii) excludes credit expressly intended to finance a vehicle purchase when the vehicle secures it. That is why trading in a capped pre-service Ford during service can cost you the cap.
