What Planet Home Lending owes you

The cap is retroactive to your first day of active duty, and the excess interest is forgiven rather than deferred. Put your numbers in to see the size of your claim, then generate the letter that asks for it.

Simple-interest estimate on a fixed balance, capped at 6%: the 6% statutory ceiling (50 U.S.C. § 3937). Planet Home Lending publishes no lower rate, so 6% is your guaranteed floor. A revolving balance that moved over the period will differ. It sizes the claim; it is not an amortization schedule and not legal advice.

Write the letter to Planet Home Lending

Written notice is what starts the clock. Fill these in and the letter below is yours to copy, print, and send with a copy of your orders.

Where to send it: Planet Home Lending, LLC, 321 Research Parkway, Suite 303, Meriden, CT 06450

Nothing you type here leaves your browser. The letter is built on this device.

Planet Home Lending will cut a pre-service mortgage to 6% and forgive the interest above that, but only after it has your paperwork. Its SCRA page, linked from both its Existing Customers page and its Homeowners Assistance page, puts it plainly: “To obtain the reduced rate, please send Planet a written notice with proof of military service” (read November 2, 2026). Planet does not say it checks the military database on its own. Assume the cap starts when your notice lands, and send it early.

The page is one of the more complete SCRA pages a mid-size servicer publishes. It states that the rate cut is temporary and “will return to the prior rate one year after the end of active-duty military service.” It says interest above 6% “will be permanently forgiven retroactively.” And it says foreclosures “are prohibited without a court order during the servicemember’s active military service, and for one year thereafter.” All three match § 3937 and § 3953.

What the forgiveness is worth

Take a $220,000 Planet balance at 7.5% when you are called up. The 1.5-point gap is about $275 a month in interest ($220,000 times 1.5%, divided by 12). A 9-month deployment plus the 12-month tail is 21 months, or roughly $5,775 that Planet must forgive. That is forgiven, not added to the back of the loan. The exact figure falls a little as principal is paid down. Model your own balance in the savings calculator, and if months passed before Planet applied the cap, use the refund calculator to size the back credit you are owed.

Sending Planet your request

File your SCRA request with Planet Home Lending

  1. Check the dates. Your Planet mortgage must have closed before your active-duty start date. Planet’s page says loans obtained after you entered active duty are not covered.
  2. Gather proof of service: your orders and any extension orders, or a certified letter from your commanding officer.
  3. Write the notice. The letter generator drafts one that cites § 3937 and asks for the retroactive adjustment. Put your Planet loan number on every page.
  4. Fax it to 443-927-1243, or mail it with tracking to Planet Home Lending, LLC, 321 Research Parkway, Suite 303, Meriden, CT 06450. Skip plain email for the orders themselves (see below).
  5. About ten business days later, call 866-882-8187 to confirm receipt. Ask for the applied rate, the start date (your first day of duty), and the end date (one year after service ends) in writing.
  6. Read the next statement for a lower payment, not just a lower rate, and a credit reaching back to your start date.

The email warning on Planet’s own page

Planet lists cs@myloansupport.com as one way to send your documents. Then an asterisk on that same page says: “you should only use email for inquiries and not for submitting documentation containing personal information unless it is secure, encrypted or password protected. If you choose to submit personal information via non-secure email, you are doing so at your own risk.” Orders can carry personal identifiers. Use the fax or the mail, and keep the email address for a short message asking Planet to confirm it received your packet.

Two other Planet addresses are easy to mix up with the SCRA route. The Homeowners Assistance page routes hardship cases to the Mitigation Department at mitigation@planethomelending.com or fax 813-364-1830 (read November 2, 2026). That desk handles forbearance, repayment plans, and modifications. None of those is the 6% cap, and none of them forgives interest. And the “CALL NOW (888) 966-9044” button on the SCRA page sits next to Free Quote and Refinance links. Do not refinance a capped loan without running the numbers: a new loan made during service is not a pre-service debt, so § 3937 does not reach it.

Where Planet’s page says more than the law

“Spouses, domestic partners or dependents.” Planet lists them as “covered as well.” Whatever that means for other protections, the 6% cap is narrower. Section 3937(a)(1) covers debt incurred by the servicemember, or by the servicemember and spouse jointly, before service. A Planet mortgage solely in a non-serving partner’s name does not get the cap. The spouses and families guide sorts out which protection reaches whom.

“Automatically.” Planet says eligible members “will automatically receive protection from default judgments, repossession, evictions, and foreclosures without a court order.” That is true in the sense that § 3953(c) voids a sale made without a court order whether or not you asked. It does not mean the rate cut is automatic. Planet’s own page asks you to send notice for that.

The Guard and the Space Force. Planet describes Guard coverage as Title 32 service “under a call to active service by the President or the Secretary of Defense for more than 30 days.” The statute, § 3911(2)(A)(ii), is tighter: more than 30 consecutive days, under 32 U.S.C. 502(f), to respond to a national emergency declared by the President and supported by federal funds. Check your orders against that wording in the Guard and Reserve guide. The same section names the Space Force, which Planet’s list of “five military branches” leaves out.

Nothing on timing. Planet states no processing time and no hours for the 866 number. Under § 3937(b)(2) the cap runs from the date you were called to duty once Planet has your notice, so a slow review should end in a back credit. If it does not, use the escalation playbook, and compare Planet with other servicers on the bank leaderboard.

Frequently asked questions

Where do I send my orders to Planet Home Lending for the SCRA?

Planet's SCRA page lists three routes: mail to Planet Home Lending, LLC, 321 Research Parkway, Suite 303, Meriden, CT 06450; fax to 443-927-1243; or email to cs@myloansupport.com (read November 2, 2026). The page's own footnote says email is not a secure way to send documents with personal information unless it is encrypted or password protected. Orders can carry personal identifiers, so fax or mail them and keep the fax confirmation or tracking receipt.

What is the Planet Home Lending SCRA phone number?

The SCRA page lists 866-882-8187 next to its mailing address, fax, and email (read November 2, 2026). It prints no hours and no SCRA-only desk. The page also shows a "CALL NOW (888) 966-9044" button, but that sits next to Free Quote, Buy a Home, and Refinance links, so treat it as a loan sales line, not the place to file an SCRA request.

Does Planet Home Lending forgive interest above 6% or defer it?

Forgive. Planet's page says that if your original rate was higher than 6% during active duty, "the difference will be permanently forgiven retroactively." That matches 50 U.S.C. 3937(a)(2), which forgives interest above 6% on a covered debt. Under 3937(a)(3) your monthly payment must also drop by the forgiven amount, so look for a lower payment, not just a lower rate, on your statement.

I am a veteran. Can I still get the SCRA rate from Planet?

Only within 180 days of leaving service. Planet's page says veterans whose service ended more than 180 days ago "are no longer eligible under the federal SCRA to request the 6% interest rate cap." That tracks 50 U.S.C. 3937(b)(1), which requires written notice and orders no later than 180 days after release. If you send them in time, the cap reaches back to your first day of duty and runs until one year after service ends.

Does Planet Home Lending cover Space Force members under the SCRA?

The statute does, whatever Planet's list says. Planet's page describes the "five military branches (Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps and Coast Guard)" and leaves out the Space Force (read November 2, 2026). Under 50 U.S.C. 3911(2)(A), military service includes active duty in the Space Force. A Guardian with a pre-service Planet mortgage qualifies the same way as any other member. Cite the section in your request.
