Gold's Gym Military Discount: No Corporate Rate, Gym-by-Gym Exits
Part of: The Complete Guide to the SCRA
Gold’s Gym has no military discount on its corporate site. What it does publish is more useful once orders arrive: plan prices with a 12-month commitment, a $59.99 annual fee, and a cancellation page that sends each member to a different place depending on who owns the gym. Federal law handles the commitment. Under 50 U.S.C. § 3956(e)(1), a gym may not impose an early termination charge on a membership you end because of qualifying orders. The work is getting the notice to the right desk.
No corporate military rate, one franchise exception
On October 9, 2026, goldsgym.com/military and goldsgym.com/military-discount both returned a 404. The Copperas Cove location page, its FAQ, and its join page had no military price. The location FAQ answers the contract question in general terms: Gold’s offers “month-to-month, paid in full options, term memberships, and others.”
One owner says more. The Jacksonville, North Carolina page reads: “We are grateful to our military service members stationed in Camp Lejeune and New River Air Station and we have created offerings if you will not be in the area for very long.” It lists no price or terms. If you are there for a school or a short tour, ask about those offerings before you sign a term you may not finish.
Copperas Cove’s plans, priced
The Copperas Cove gym sits beside Fort Hood and appears on Gold’s list of company-owned gyms. Its join page listed four plans.
| Copperas Cove plan | Dues | Term | Extras |
|---|---|---|---|
| Commit and Save | $14.99 every 2 weeks | 12-month commitment | 1 personal training session included |
| No Contract | $19.99 every 2 weeks | Month-to-month | 1 personal training session included |
| Unlimited Guest Passes | $24.99 every 2 weeks | Month-to-month | Unlimited guest passes |
| Personal Training Package | $14.99 every 2 weeks | Month-to-month | Includes 4 training sessions for $240 |
One gym’s numbers, read on goldsgym.com October 9, 2026. Every plan showed $0 enrollment, a $59.99 annual fee, and a requirement to be at least 18 and “a local resident with valid ID.”
The commitment saves $5 a payment. Over 26 payments a year that is $130. Gold’s does not print what the gym charges if you leave the 12-month plan early, and that is the number § 3956 erases when orders qualify.
Gold’s sends each member to a different cancellation desk
The Gold’s cancellation request page starts with a location picker and a warning: “please use the following specific link provided by your gym owner, as each location manages cancellations individually.” On October 9, 2026, the picker listed 172 gyms. They split like this:
- 54 used the on-page Gold’s form, including the company-owned gyms in Austin, San Antonio, and Copperas Cove.
- 89 sent members to the myiclubonline.com portal.
- 16 sent members to a peakpayment.com support page, 6 to a Richmond member services site, and 7 to other owner forms.
A portal is built for routine cancellations, and Gold’s publishes nothing on how its portals treat military orders. Use the route your gym requires, then also put a written notice with your orders in front of the gym. The plan-terms template built into the Copperas Cove join page describes an autorenewing membership that renews after its initial term, leaves room for a per-payment processing fee on top of dues, and points to an “Easy Online Cancellation Request through the link at the bottom of the website.”
Gold’s published terms against § 3956
The statute covers a gym membership or fitness program you signed before getting orders to relocate for 90 days or more to a location that does not support the contract. It also reaches a contract signed after PCS orders when a stop-movement order then blocks its use. The service contract explainer walks the rule for every provider, and § 3956’s text is on this site.
| Topic | Gold’s Gym publishes | § 3956 |
|---|---|---|
| Military rate | None corporate; one franchise mentions short-stay offerings | Not addressed |
| 12-month commitment | Sold at Copperas Cove; early exit cost not published | No early termination charge, (e)(1) |
| Where to cancel | Each gym’s own route: Gold’s form, portal, or owner link | Written or electronic notice, orders, and end date, (a)(3) |
| $59.99 annual fee | Charged on every Copperas Cove plan | Fees paid for time after your end date come back, except the current billing period, (f) |
| Renewal | Auto-renews after the initial term | Not addressed |
Gold’s column read October 9, 2026; statute read the same day in the 2024 edition on GovInfo.
Access levels decide whether your contract is “supported”
Gold’s company-owned gyms are sorted into levels. A membership bought at one “can visit any gym in your level, plus all lower-level gyms.” Copperas Cove is a Level 1 gym. On October 9, 2026, Level 1 held 35 gyms: 32 in Texas, including 12 in San Antonio, and 3 in Oklahoma.
That list changes the analysis. A Soldier leaving Fort Hood for Joint Base San Antonio still has Level 1 gyms in that city, so the membership arguably still works there, and the statute’s “does not support the contract” test is harder to meet. Keeping the plan may be the better deal anyway. Orders to Fort Bliss are the opposite case. None of the 35 Level 1 gyms is in El Paso, and Gold’s gym directory listed no El Paso gym at all; its El Paso market page was empty. A Copperas Cove contract has nothing to support it there. Orders overseas, or a deployment of 90 days or more, are the plainest case of all.
A Copperas Cove commitment, priced
Take a Soldier who joined the Commit and Save plan in February. PCS orders to Fort Bliss arrive after 12 payments. For this illustration, 14 payments remain; the agreement shows the real count.
| Path after orders | Cost |
|---|---|
| Keep paying from El Paso | 14 x $14.99 = $209.86, for a gym you cannot use |
| Pay the gym’s early exit charge | Not published by Gold’s |
| End it under § 3956 | No termination charge; at most the current two-week period, $14.99 |
Figures exclude tax, the annual fee, and any processing fee your agreement adds.
The annual fee is the open question. If the $59.99 posted a few weeks before you leave, § 3956(f) requires a refund of amounts paid for a period after your termination date, except the rest of the “monthly or similar billing period.” Gold’s could argue the fee’s period is the whole year. Ask for the unused share in writing anyway; the worst answer is no.
Cancel Gold’s Gym on orders
End a Gold's Gym membership under § 3956
- Open goldsgym.com/cancellation-request, select your gym, and note the route it uses: the Gold’s form, myiclubonline, or another owner link.
- Write a notice with your name, barcode, gym, end date, and “I am terminating this membership under 50 U.S.C. § 3956.” The letter generator drafts the gym version.
- Attach orders showing a relocation or deployment of 90 days or more, and say in the notice that no gym in your access level serves the new location.
- Submit through your gym’s route, then hand or email the same notice to the gym and keep a dated copy or a screenshot of the confirmation.
- On the Personal Training Package, list the training in the same notice and ask in writing for unused sessions back. Section 3956(f) refunds amounts paid for time after your end date, except the current billing period; whether a session pack counts is untested.
- Check the final statement for an early exit charge and for dues drafted for a billing period after the one you end in. Dispute either in writing; refunds are due within 60 days.
Early termination charges on service contracts show up in the DOJ violations ranking, and a gym that keeps drafting after a lawful termination is the small-dollar version of that problem.
Section 3956 belongs to the servicemember, and the eligibility guide covers who counts. A spouse’s own Gold’s membership falls under the statute only in the narrow cases § 3956(a)(4) lists, which the family guide explains. Crunch, another franchise brand, at least publishes a military plan for participating clubs; its page compares well with this one. The rest of the move, from the lease to the car, is in PCS money moves.

Frequently asked questions
Does Gold's Gym have a military discount?
Not at the corporate level. On October 9, 2026, goldsgym.com/military returned a 404, and the location FAQ and join pages for the company-owned Copperas Cove, Texas gym showed no military pricing. One franchise, Gold's Gym of Jacksonville, North Carolina, says it has "created offerings" for service members at Camp Lejeune and New River Air Station who will not be in the area for very long, without listing terms. Ask your gym directly and get any rate written on the agreement.
What does Gold's Gym cost near a base?
Gold's lists plans on each gym's own join page. The Copperas Cove, Texas gym listed four plans online on October 9, 2026: a 12-month Commit and Save plan at $14.99 every two weeks, a no-contract plan at $19.99, an unlimited guest pass plan at $24.99, and a month-to-month plan at $14.99 that comes with four personal training sessions for $240. Every plan showed $0 enrollment and a $59.99 annual fee, and required a local resident with a valid ID.
Can I cancel Gold's Gym with military orders?
Yes, when the orders relocate you for at least 90 days to a place your membership cannot serve and you joined before receiving them. 50 U.S.C. § 3956(b)(1)(E) covers gym memberships and fitness programs, and § 3956(e)(1) bars any early termination charge. That reaches a 12-month commitment like the Commit and Save plan at Copperas Cove. Gold's does not publish what its gyms charge to leave a term early, but on qualifying orders the answer is zero.
How do I submit a Gold's Gym cancellation request?
Start at goldsgym.com/cancellation-request and pick your gym. Gold's says each location manages cancellations individually. On October 9, 2026, 54 of the 172 gyms listed used the on-page Gold's form, which asks for your name, barcode, email, phone, reason, and the services to cancel, while 89 sent members to the myiclubonline.com portal and the rest to other owner links. Whichever route your gym uses, also deliver a written notice with your orders so the § 3956 basis is on file.
Can I keep my Gold's membership if I PCS within Texas?
Possibly. Gold's says a membership bought at a company-owned gym lets you visit any gym in your level plus all lower levels. Copperas Cove is a Level 1 gym, and Level 1 had 35 gyms on October 9, 2026, including 12 in San Antonio and 3 in Oklahoma. If your new station is near one, the membership still works and a termination under § 3956 is harder to argue. If it is not, the statute applies.
