Honda’s military rebate is $500, and Honda Financial Services has to be your lender or lessor to get it. Honda calls it the Military Appreciation Offer. Its terms, on Honda’s financial services page and in the offer data behind its current-offers page, were read October 16, 2026. They run the program from April 1, 2026 through March 31, 2027, the latest end date among the five automaker military programs this site read that day.

The terms end with a sentence most buyers never read. During an HFS loan or lease, the client “may not take their vehicle outside the United States without prior written consent of HFS.” For a service member, that sentence matters more than the $500.

During the contractNo taking the car outside the U.S. without HFS written consent; report address changes immediately
Regional?No. Same terms at ZIPs 28310, 76544, 92055 and 98433

The ZIP codes in the last row are Fort Bragg, Fort Hood, Camp Pendleton and Joint Base Lewis-McChord. Honda’s offer data returned the same military record, dates and wording for all four, so this is a national program.

Honda’s two pages describe retirees a little differently. The financial services page says retirees who served 20 or more years on active duty or in the Reserves or Guard, or who retired medically. The offer data adds spouses of retirees. Spouses of active duty members and of recent veterans are named in both.

The overseas clause

Picture the common case. You finance a CR-V through HFS at Fort Hood, and six months later you get PCS orders to Germany or Japan. Honda’s offer terms say the car cannot leave the United States without HFS’s written consent first. Shipping it without that consent would break a condition Honda prints with the offer you used to get the $500.

So ask HFS in writing as soon as orders arrive, and keep the reply with your shipping paperwork. Honda’s terms also require you to tell HFS “immediately” when your address changes, which a PCS always does. If consent does not come, your practical choices are to sell the car, pay off the loan, or store it stateside.

A lease has a cleaner exit. Section 3955 of Title 50 lets you end an HFS lease you signed during service when PCS orders send you from the continental United States to a place outside it, or when deployment orders run 180 days or more, and HFS cannot charge an early termination fee. One detail cuts against the rebate on a lease. In 2021 a federal court entered a consent order after the Justice Department alleged American Honda Finance failed to refund capitalized cost reduction, paid with trade-in value, to service members who ended leases on orders. The order’s compensation formula, covering terminations from July 1, 2014 until the order, refunded capitalized cost reduction pro rata only after subtracting “manufacturer rebates or other rebates and incentives” and other credits “not based on a cash payment or trade-in value.” Under that formula, the unused share of a cash or trade-in down payment came back and the unused share of a rebate did not. The order does not say how HFS handles a rebate on a termination today, so get HFS’s answer on paper before the $500 goes into a lease that orders could cut short. The Honda case page has the order’s numbers, and the car lease termination guide covers the 15-day return.

What $500 does on Honda’s own deals

Honda’s current specials, read for ZIP 28310 on October 16, 2026, give real numbers to work with.

On a loan. HFS offers 3.99% APR for up to 60 months on select 2026 Accord Sedan models for well-qualified buyers through November 2, 2026, and prints the payment as $18.41 a month per $1,000 financed. Put the $500 toward the down payment and you finance $500 less. That lowers the payment about $9.21 a month and saves about $552 over 60 payments.

On a lease. Honda’s featured 2026 Accord 1.5T LX lease runs $229 a month for 36 months with $3,999 due at signing, of which $3,770 is capitalized cost reduction. If the dealer applies the $500 in place of your cash, the amount due at signing drops to $3,499 at the same payment. Or, left in the deal to lower the payment, it is worth roughly $14.90 a month before tax, using the money factor of 0.00204 in Honda’s offer data.

Those figures assume the dealer’s price holds. The $500 comes from Honda, but the selling price is still the dealer’s to set, so negotiate the price before you mention the rebate. Model a lease exit with the lease termination calculator.

Federal law on a Honda bought while serving

The SCRA cap does not reach an HFS contract you sign on active duty. Section 3937 limits interest only on an obligation taken on “before the servicemember enters military service.” The Military Lending Act does not fill the gap. Its regulation, at 32 CFR 232.3(f)(2)(ii), carves out purchase financing when the Honda itself is the collateral. The MLA covered credit page lists what the MLA does reach.

If you already owe HFS on a Honda you financed before service, that loan can come down to 6%. The Honda Financial Services SCRA page covers HFS’s SCRA request form, fax and 30-day response, and the auto loan rate cap guide walks through the request letter.

Use the Honda military rebate without the overseas trap

  1. Confirm you fit Honda’s list: active duty, Ready Reserve, a veteran within two years of separation, a retiree, a spouse, or a Gold Star family member.
  2. Pick a new, untitled 2025 or newer Honda and plan to sign with HFS before March 31, 2027.
  3. Negotiate the price first, then ask for the $500 as a separate capitalized cost reduction or down payment line.
  4. If a PCS outside the continental U.S. is possible during the term, compare an HFS lease, which § 3955 lets you end, with an HFS loan, which needs written consent before the car leaves the country.
  5. On a lease you may end early, keep in mind that the unused share of a rebate was not refundable under the 2021 consent order’s formula, while unused cash or trade-in reduction was, and ask HFS how it treats the $500 now.
  6. When orders arrive, send HFS your new address and, for a loan, a written request to take the car abroad. For a lease, send a § 3955 notice drafted with the letter generator.
The law behind this: 50 U.S.C. § 3955

Frequently asked questions

What are the Honda military rebate requirements?

Honda's Military Appreciation Offer, read October 16, 2026, applies to active duty members and the Ready Reserve and their spouses, veterans within two years of separation from active service and their spouses, military retirees, and Gold Star families. Its financial services page defines retirees as 20 or more years on active duty or in the Reserve or Guard, or a medical retirement. You must finance or lease a new, untitled 2025 or newer Honda through HFS and be approved as a well-qualified client.

Is the Honda military discount the same as the military rebate?

Yes. Honda calls it the Military Appreciation Offer and describes it as $500 savings toward a new Honda, valid through March 31, 2027 on the terms read October 16, 2026. It is not a cut in the price the dealer sets. Honda's terms apply it as $500 toward capitalized cost reduction on a lease or down payment assistance on a purchase, one offer per vehicle, and only on a contract with Honda Financial Services. A cash buyer or someone with an outside loan does not get it.

Can I take my financed Honda overseas on PCS orders?

Only with HFS's written consent first. The offer terms, read October 16, 2026, say that during the term of an HFS retail installment contract or lease, you may not take the vehicle outside the United States without prior written consent of HFS, and you must notify HFS immediately of any change of address. Ask for consent in writing as soon as you have orders. A lease signed while serving can instead be ended under 50 U.S.C. § 3955 on qualifying PCS orders to a location outside the continental United States.

Can I combine the Honda military rebate with other Honda offers?

Honda's terms name one exclusion: the offer cannot be combined with the Zero Due at Signing Lease Program. They also limit it to one $500 Military Appreciation Offer per vehicle. Honda's current specials for ZIP 28310 include special APRs and featured leases through HFS, such as 3.99% for 60 months on a 2026 Accord Sedan, with no line barring the military offer. Ask the dealer to show the $500 as a separate line on the contract.

Does the SCRA lower the rate on a Honda I finance while on active duty?

No. Section 3937 helps only with debt from before your active-duty start date, so an HFS contract you sign during service keeps its rate. The MLA does not cover it either, because purchase credit secured by the car is outside the MLA's definition of consumer credit. That makes the HFS rate quote your only rate protection. A Honda loan from before you entered service is different, and HFS routes those requests to an SCRA Specialist.
