Mediacom publishes a standing military price. Its Military Connect offer, read October 10, 2026, is $29.99 a month for five years, and the eligibility list is broad: active duty, Guard and Reserve, veterans, retirees, military families, and Gold Star families. The catch is that it is for new customers and ends the moment any piece of the package is cancelled. That changes how you handle a deployment or a PCS.

What Military Connect includes

The offer page and its terms list:

  • Xtream Connect internet, up to 100 Mbps down and 20 Mbps up, with unlimited data. Upload speed may be cut by up to 50% for the rest of a month after 1 TB of uploads.
  • Modem rental and Advanced WiFi 6 powered by eero, inside the $29.99.
  • Free installation, a 90-day money-back guarantee, and “No Price Surprises, No Contracts.”
  • A five-year promotional period. After that, Mediacom’s then-current standard rates apply.
  • Billing monthly in advance, renewing each month until you cancel.

The page shows “Plus one-time charges” next to the price without listing them, so ask what you will pay on the first bill. To qualify, use the SheerID form on Mediacom’s sign-up page or call 877-851-7466.

One detail is worth knowing. Mediacom’s Xtream Connect page sells the same plan, at the same $29.99 for five years, to households in programs such as SNAP, Medicaid, and the VA’s Veterans Pension and Survivors Benefit. The Military Connect page lists no income test, so it opens that price to military households at any income.

Military Connect against the regular deal

Mediacom’s moving page advertised Internet 300 at $30 a month for two years on October 10, 2026. That price includes a $10 discount for autopay and paperless billing and excludes a $75 installation fee and a $25 activation fee. Over the first 24 months:

Military ConnectInternet 300 offer
Monthly price$29.99$30, with autopay and paperless
24 months of service$719.76$720
Installation and activationInstallation free$75 + $25
Two-year total$719.76 plus unlisted one-time charges$820
Price after 24 monthsStill $29.99 through month 60Standard rate
Download speedUp to 100 MbpsUp to 300 Mbps

Prices as read October 10, 2026. Military Connect saves about $100 over two years, before any one-time charges, and holds its price for three more, a five-year total of $1,799.40. Internet 300 is three times as fast. A household with several people streaming may decide the speed is worth paying for.

Mediacom’s cancel rules against § 3956

Section 3956 lets a servicemember end internet, cable TV, and mobile contracts signed before orders that relocate the member for 90 days or more to a place the contract does not reach. The phone, cable, and internet guide covers the general rule. Mediacom’s Residential Customer and User Agreement (effective June 1, 2026, last updated October 7, 2026) lines up this way:

ItemMediacom’s agreement§ 3956
Cancel feeNone: cancel “without extra fees”Early termination charge barred, § 3956(e)(1)
NoticeAt least 7 days, by phone or at a local officeNotice plus orders and an end date, § 3956(a)(3)
BillingBilled until service is disconnectedCurrent billing period may be kept, § 3956(f)
EquipmentBack within 7 days or pay a feeBack within 10 days, § 3956(e)(3)
PromotionsCancel part of a package and the promo endsSilent on promotions

Two rows bind tighter than the statute. Count back seven days from your last day in the house when you call, and plan to return the gear by day seven, not day ten. Mediacom publishes its unreturned-equipment fees only on rate cards that ask for a street address, so this page gives no figure.

The 90-day guarantee and fresh orders

Mediacom’s guarantee says that if you are not completely satisfied within 90 days of installation, you may cancel and get back the monthly charges you paid, excluding installation, activation, and usage charges. The refund comes as a credit, then a check if you have cancelled everything. The moving page words it more narrowly, as a right for customers in good standing with unresolved service issues. If orders arrive in your first three months, ask for the guarantee in writing; it can return more than § 3956(f) requires.

Deployment: keep the lock or cancel

Mediacom’s public pages describe no vacation hold. That leaves two choices for an empty house:

  • Keep paying. Seven months away costs 7 × $29.99 = $209.93, and the five-year price survives.
  • Cancel on the orders. You pay nothing while gone, but the lock ends, and the offer is open to new subscribers only. Section 3956(e)(2) bars a reinstatement charge if you re-subscribe during the 90-day period that begins on the last day of the relocation; it does not restore a promotion.

If a spouse stays home, keep the service. The spouse and family guide covers the SCRA protections a spouse holds in their own right. Veterans keep Military Connect eligibility, but SCRA contract rights generally end with service; see whether the SCRA covers veterans.

Mobile lines and cable TV

Mediacom Mobile lines count as commercial mobile service, the first item on the § 3956 list. Mediacom’s agreement says you need Mediacom internet, TV, or home phone to sign up for Mobile, but if you cancel those or move out of its service area you may keep Mobile anywhere in the continental United States, at a price that may change plus a possible monthly surcharge. Decide on the phone lines separately from the internet; the family-plan and number rules are in § 3956(c) and (d).

Mediacom’s cable TV is the kind of service the statute’s TV category covers: video from a cable operator over a system it owns or controls, § 3956(g)(3). Streaming apps you subscribe to through the Xtream1 box, such as Netflix or Prime Video, are separate accounts that end under their own terms.

Sign up for or cancel Mediacom on military orders

  1. New customer: verify through SheerID on Mediacom’s Military Connect sign-up page or call 877-851-7466, and ask what one-time charges apply.
  2. Leaving: confirm the orders qualify with the eligibility checker, including Guard and Reserve orders.
  3. Call 855-633-4226 or visit a local office at least seven days before your last day. Send written notice with your orders and end date; the letter generator drafts it.
  4. If you are inside 90 days of installation, ask in writing for the 90-day money-back guarantee.
  5. Return the modem and eero units within seven days of disconnection and keep the receipt.
  6. Check the final bill, and enter your termination and disconnect dates in the deadline checker to see the statute’s refund and equipment deadlines.

The rest of the pre-deployment paperwork is in the deployment money stack.

The law behind this: 50 U.S.C. § 3956

Termination of certain consumer contracts: internet access, mobile, landline, TV, gym, and home security: read the statute , or read § 3956 in plain English, with its enforcement record .

Frequently asked questions

Does Mediacom have a military discount?

Yes. Mediacom's Military Connect page (read October 10, 2026) offers Xtream Connect internet at $29.99 a month with a five-year price lock, including modem rental, Advanced WiFi 6 powered by eero, free installation, and a 90-day money-back guarantee. Speeds are up to 100 Mbps down and 20 Mbps up. It is open to new customers only, cannot be combined with other offers, and is not transferable. You qualify online through a SheerID form or by calling 877-851-7466.

Who qualifies for Mediacom Military Connect?

The page lists the Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, Marine Corps, Navy, and Space Force, and within them active duty, Reservists and National Guard members, military veterans and retirees, military families, and Gold Star families. The household must be in a Mediacom area and new to Mediacom. Verification runs through SheerID, embedded on Mediacom's sign-up page. A veteran can get the discount even though SCRA contract rights generally end with active service.

Can I cancel Mediacom without a fee when I get orders?

Yes. Mediacom's Residential Customer and User Agreement says you can cancel any or all services at any time, for any reason, without extra fees, and Military Connect is sold with no contract. Give at least seven days' notice by calling 855-633-4226 or visiting a local office. On orders that relocate you 90 days or more to a place Mediacom does not serve, 50 U.S.C. § 3956(e)(1) also bars any early termination charge.

How fast do I have to return Mediacom equipment?

Within seven days after service ends, under Section 12.3 of Mediacom's agreement, or you pay an unreturned equipment fee. That is shorter than the 10 days in 50 U.S.C. § 3956(e)(3), so Mediacom's deadline is the one that sets the fee. Mediacom lists its fees only on rate cards that require a street address, which this site did not submit, so ask for the amount before you ship.

Does Mediacom have a vacation or seasonal hold?

None that its public pages describe. The agreement, the Military Connect terms, and the moving page read on October 10, 2026 offer no suspension program, and Mediacom's Answer Center did not load for this check. Ask before a deployment. Remember that cancelling any part of the Military Connect package ends the five-year price, and the offer is for new subscribers.
