F45 Military Discount: Reduced Rates on Base, None at 15 Studios Read
Part of: The Complete Guide to the SCRA
F45 Training runs real military programs, but almost none of them touch a membership bill. Its military division runs a SkillBridge internship and cuts the franchise fee in half for veterans and active-duty members. A member pays the studio’s posted price. The protection a member does have on orders is federal: 50 U.S.C. § 3956(e)(1) bars an early termination charge on a fitness contract ended under the statute.
F45’s military programs, in its own words
F45’s military site, read October 10, 2026, says its Military Division started in January 2020. Three of its programs matter here.
- SkillBridge internship. A DoD-approved program, up to 180 days “pending command approval,” with “approximately a 90% discount on fitness certifications” needed to coach F45 or FS8. Open to active duty, Reserve and Guard, spouses, and veterans, but “only active-duty participants will continue to receive their pay and benefits.”
- Franchise discount. F45 offers “a 50% discount on the initial franchise fee for veterans and active-duty service members opening their first F45 studio.”
- On-base studios. F45 and FS8 studios at Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, with training on installations “at reduced rates.” F45 publishes no dollar figure for those rates.
A March 2025 F45 Training post on the Functional Inspired Training newsroom said the SkillBridge program had trained over 1,000 participants. The official SkillBridge site, skillbridge.mil, lists F45 Training as an authorized organization and describes the program as up to 180 days of permissive duty in a member’s last 180 days of service, with command approval.
Fifteen studio price lists, no military plan
F45’s FAQ says each studio is “independently owned and operated,” so pricing varies. Fifteen studio pages were read October 10, 2026, including Oceanside Pier, Coronado, Santee, and Temecula in California; Stafford, Virginia; Lawton West, Oklahoma; Kapolei West, Hawaii; and Annapolis Harbour, Maryland. None listed a military plan.
| Studio | Main recurring plan | Billing | Other plans |
|---|---|---|---|
| Oceanside Pier, CA | Unlimited: $98 on a 6-month plan, $110 month-to-month | Every 2 weeks | 8 classes a month, $160 |
| Stafford, VA | Unlimited month-to-month, $199 | Every 4 weeks | 8 a month $169; 4 a month $119 |
| Lawton West, OK | Member month-to-month, $41.28 | Weekly | 8 sessions a month, $128.44 |
| Kapolei West, HI | Unlimited month-to-month, $55 | Weekly | 10 classes, $320 |
Each studio’s own listing on f45training.com, October 10, 2026. Prices before tax.
The membership rules F45 publishes
F45 corporate sets a few rules for every studio. The rest live in the studio’s agreement, which F45 does not post.
- One studio. A membership “generally can only be used at the studio where you initially signed up.” Paid-in-full and autopay unlimited members get Passporting, a set number of monthly visits at other eligible studios.
- Cancel through the studio. The FAQ says to contact your local studio. F45’s online cancel form adds that a request is processed under your terms, “including any required notice period or applicable early termination fees,” and is “not immediately cancelled upon submission.”
- Refunds. F45 says it is “unable to process refunds on behalf of franchisees.”
- Closures. If a studio closes, the membership is canceled automatically.
F45’s terms against § 3956
Section 3956 reaches a fitness program you signed before your orders, once those orders relocate you for at least 90 days to a location the contract does not support. It also reaches a contract signed after PCS orders that a stop-movement order then blocks. The general explainer covers other contract types, and the full text of § 3956 is on this site.
| Topic | F45 says | § 3956 says |
|---|---|---|
| Leaving early | ”Applicable early termination fees” may apply | No early termination charge, (e)(1) |
| Notice | ”Any required notice period” in your terms | Written notice, orders, and the date service ends, (a)(3); no notice period set |
| Prepaid time | Refunds come from the studio, not F45 | Money paid for time after your end date refunded within 60 days, except the billing period you end in, (f) |
| Where it works | One studio, plus Passporting visits | The test is whether the contract serves your new location, (a)(1) |
F45 quotes from its FAQ and online cancel form; statute from the 2024 U.S. Code on GovInfo. All read October 10, 2026.
The one-studio rule helps you. A Passporting allowance is a set number of monthly visits, not a membership at the new studio, so a move away from your home studio arguably leaves the contract unsupported.
A 6-month Oceanside Pier plan, priced
Take a service member on Oceanside Pier’s 6-month unlimited plan at $98 every two weeks, 13 payments in all. PCS orders arrive after five payments.
| Path | What remains |
|---|---|
| Pay out the 6 months | 8 x $98 = $784 |
| Month-to-month instead, from the start | $110 a payment; $12 more each time, $156 over 13 payments |
| End it under § 3956 | No early termination charge; at most the current $98 period |
Figures before tax, from the studio’s listing. The studio’s agreement sets the actual remaining count and any fee.
The 6-month plan saves $156 over its term. A civilian who leaves early risks giving it back. A servicemember whose orders qualify keeps it.
Cancel F45 on orders
End an F45 membership under § 3956
- Ask your studio for a copy of your membership agreement and note any term, notice period, or early termination fee.
- Write the notice: name, studio, end date, and “I am terminating under 50 U.S.C. § 3956; do not charge an early termination fee.” The letter generator drafts it.
- Put the orders behind the notice and point out that F45’s FAQ ties a membership to the studio where you signed up.
- Email the notice and orders to the studio, and also submit F45’s online cancel form so the request is logged.
- Wait for the studio’s confirmation; F45 says the form alone does not cancel.
- Dispute in writing any fee or any draft for a billing period that starts after your end date. Refunds come from the studio within 60 days under § 3956(f).
SkillBridge interns and franchise buyers
A SkillBridge internship is not a gym membership, and a franchise agreement is a business contract. Section 3956(b)(1) lists six contract types, from cell phone and internet service to “a gym membership or fitness program” and home security. On this site’s reading, neither an internship nor a franchise agreement fits that list. A business loan signed before active duty is a different story; the business loan page explains the 6% cap. Guard and Reserve members on their own qualifying orders can use the same steps; Guard and Reserve coverage lists which orders count. Spouses should read the family guide before relying on § 3956, and the enforcement guide covers a studio that keeps billing.
The law behind this: 50 U.S.C. § 3956
Termination of certain consumer contracts: gym memberships and fitness programs: read the statute , or read § 3956 in plain English, with its enforcement record .
Frequently asked questions
Does F45 have a military discount?
Not at the ordinary studios read. On October 10, 2026, F45's FAQ said each studio is independently owned and operated and that pricing may differ by location, and 15 studio price lists read that day showed no military plan. F45's military site says its on-base studios, such as those at Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, offer training at reduced rates, but it posts no figure. Its other military offers are career programs: a SkillBridge internship, about 90% off trainer certifications for interns, and 50% off the initial franchise fee for veterans and active-duty members.
Is there an F45 military discount code?
F45 publishes no military discount code. What studios post are trial offers for new local members, and they vary: on October 10, 2026, the Oceanside Pier studio in California listed a 7-day trial for $10 and the Stafford, Virginia studio listed one week unlimited for $39, both for local residents only. Ask the studio you plan to join whether the owner offers a military rate, and get any price in writing before you sign.
What is the F45 SkillBridge program?
It is a DoD SkillBridge internship F45 calls its Veterans Impact Program. F45's military site says it lasts up to 180 days, pending command approval, and gives participants about a 90% discount on the certifications needed to coach F45 or FS8 classes. Active duty, Reserve and Guard members, military spouses, and veterans can apply, but only active-duty participants keep their pay and benefits during it. F45 reported in March 2025 that the program had trained over 1,000 participants.
Can I cancel F45 with military orders?
Yes, if the orders relocate you for 90 days or more to a place your studio cannot serve and you joined before them. 50 U.S.C. § 3956 covers fitness contracts and bars early termination charges. F45's own cancellation form warns that requests are processed under your membership terms, "including any required notice period or applicable early termination fees." Send the studio written notice with your orders and the date service ends. Under § 3956(f), money paid for time after that date comes back within 60 days, except the current billing period.
Can I use my F45 membership at another studio after a PCS?
Usually not. F45's FAQ says a membership generally can only be used at the studio where you signed up. Members on paid-in-full and autopay unlimited plans get Passporting, a set number of visits each month at other eligible studios worldwide. That is a visit allowance, not a transfer. If the new duty station is far from your studio, the contract arguably does not serve you there. That is one half of the test under 50 U.S.C. § 3956; the orders must also run 90 days or more and come after you joined.
