Kia Military Discount Requirements: $500; Military ID Is Not Proof
Part of: The Complete Guide to the SCRA
Kia’s military discount is $500, and whether you get it comes down to one sheet of paper. Kia’s terms, read on kia.com on October 16, 2026, list the documents a dealer may accept and then add a line most buyers never see: “Military ID is not a sufficient form of proof of eligibility.” Walk in with only your CAC and the answer can be no.
Kia files the money under its Military Specialty Incentive Program. The offer cards call it the $500 Military Program, and the terms call it a $500 Military Bonus. It covers new vehicles bought or leased October 1 through November 2, 2026.
Kia’s terms, line by line
| Rule | Kia’s wording or figure (read October 16, 2026) |
|---|---|
| Bonus | $500, labeled Military Bonus; “No cash value” |
| Who qualifies | Active member of, honorably discharged from, retired from, or on disability with the U.S. Armed Forces or Reserves |
| Also covered | Those with “national” status from another country serving in the U.S. military |
| Spouse | Eligible, with a marriage certificate as proof of marriage |
| Accepted proof | Current Earning Statement; honorable discharge papers; pension or disability bank statement; document showing future pension eligibility |
| Not accepted | Military ID alone |
| Limit | Two Specialty Incentives per customer per calendar year |
| Dates | New vehicles purchased or leased 10/01/2026 through 11/02/2026 |
| Stacking | ”May be combined in addition to certain other incentives”; “Not all incentive programs are compatible” |
Three lines in that table change what you bring. A veteran needs discharge papers or a pension statement, since a retiree card or veteran ID is not on the list. A spouse needs two things: the service member’s document and a marriage certificate. And because Kia never mentions ID.me, there is no online step to finish first. The dealer checks your copy at the sale.
Who Kia reaches that others skip
Kia’s veteran rule has no clock. Anyone honorably discharged qualifies. Toyota’s and Honda’s programs, by contrast, end two years after discharge, as the Toyota military rebate page shows. The “on disability” wording also brings in veterans whose proof is a disability deposit, and Kia accepts a bank statement showing that pay.
The program also names service members who hold “national” status from another country and serve in the U.S. military. If you are not yet a citizen, your Earning Statement still qualifies you. For how federal law treats veterans and families, which is a separate question from Kia’s list, see the veterans guide and the military spouse guide.
The two-per-year cap is per customer and counts Kia Specialty Incentives in total, so if you already used two of them in 2026, the military bonus is off the table for you for the rest of the calendar year.
The same $500 at 20 bases
Kia’s offers come back by ZIP code, so this page read them on October 16, 2026 at 20 installations, grouped here by region:
- East coast: 23511 (Naval Station Norfolk), 22134 (Quantico), 20755 (Fort Meade), 06340 (Naval Submarine Base New London), 13602 (Fort Drum)
- Southeast: 28310 (Fort Bragg), 29207 (Fort Jackson), 31905 (Fort Benning), 32542 (Eglin Air Force Base), 42223 (Fort Campbell)
- South and central: 76544 (Fort Hood), 79916 (Fort Bliss), 66442 (Fort Riley)
- Mountain west: 80913 (Fort Carson), 84056 (Hill Air Force Base)
- West coast and Pacific: 98433 (Joint Base Lewis-McChord), 92055 (Camp Pendleton), 92136 (Naval Base San Diego), 96857 (Schofield Barracks), 99505 (Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson)
Every ZIP returned the same $500 Military Program offer, and the terms text was identical down to the dates. At Fort Bragg’s ZIP the $500 Military Program card came back for every model queried, from the 2026 K4 to the 2026 EV9, and on the 2026 Sportage it sat alongside the $750 customer cash, the 0% APR and the lease offers alike. Nothing in the military terms names Kia Finance as a condition. The other offers did move with the ZIP: the cheapest 24-month Sportage lease was $259 a month at Fort Bragg’s ZIP, $249 at Fort Carson’s and $209 at the Fort Drum, Eglin and Camp Pendleton ZIPs.
What $500 does on Kia Finance’s rate ladder
Kia publishes its payment per $1,000 for each APR tier. For the 2026 Sportage at Fort Bragg’s ZIP, Kia Finance America offered these rates to well-qualified buyers through November 2, 2026. Kia’s terms do not say where the $500 goes on a loan; if the dealer applies it as a down payment, it trims each payment as follows.
| Term and Kia’s APR | Kia’s payment per $1,000 | $500 less financed saves |
|---|---|---|
| 48 months, 0% | $20.83 | $10.42 a month, $500 total |
| 60 months, 0.90% | $17.05 | $8.53 a month, about $512 |
| 66 months, 2.99% | $16.45 | $8.23 a month, about $543 |
| 72 months, 3.49% | $15.41 | $7.71 a month, about $555 |
| 84 months, 4.99% | $14.13 | $7.07 a month, about $593 |
The longer the loan, the more interest the $500 removes, but that only shows how much interest the longer loan carries. At 0% for 48 months the bonus is worth exactly $500. The shortest term you can afford still wins, and a quote from the military credit unions tells you whether Kia Finance’s tier is the best one you can get.
Leasing works too. Kia’s featured 2026 Sportage LX lease at that ZIP was $259 a month for 24 months with $3,999 due at signing, including a $3,090 capitalized cost reduction, on a $30,285 MSRP. Kia does not say how the bonus is applied on a lease. If the dealer puts it toward the amount due, you would bring $3,499 instead of $3,999.
Kia Finance contracts, leases and orders
A Kia financed on active duty keeps whatever rate you agree to. The SCRA’s 6% limit in § 3937 reaches only an obligation that existed before you entered service. The MLA is no help either: its statute, at 10 U.S.C. § 987(i)(6), carves out a car loan that the car itself secures. For the credit the MLA does cover, see the MLA covered credit page. A Kia Finance contract you signed before entering service is the exception, and the Hyundai and Kia finance SCRA page covers the shared desk that handles it.
A lease can end on orders. A Kia lease you sign while in uniform can be terminated under § 3955 when PCS orders send you from a base in the continental United States to a station outside it (Alaska and Hawaii count), or from a non-continental state such as Hawaii to any station outside that state, or when orders deploy you for at least 180 days. There is no early termination charge, though mileage and wear charges remain. That 24-month Sportage lease is short enough to fit inside many tours, which is worth weighing against a five-year loan if a PCS is on the horizon. The PCS money guide covers the rest of the move, and the letter generator drafts the termination notice.
Get the Kia Military Bonus approved at the desk

- If your spouse is buying, add a copy of your marriage certificate to the folder.
- Check whether you already used two Kia Specialty Incentives in 2026.

Frequently asked questions
What are the Kia military discount requirements?
Kia's terms, read October 16, 2026, cover anyone who is an active member of, honorably discharged from, retired from, or on disability with the U.S. Armed Forces or Reserves, plus a spouse. At purchase you give the dealer a copy of one document: a current Earning Statement, honorable discharge papers, a bank statement showing a military pension or disability earnings, or an official document showing future pension eligibility. A military ID alone does not count. A spouse also brings a marriage certificate. The vehicle must be new and bought or leased between October 1 and November 2, 2026.
Does the Kia military discount use ID.me?
Not according to the terms on kia.com, read October 16, 2026. They never mention ID.me or any online verification. Proof happens at the dealer, on paper: a copy of a current Earning Statement, discharge papers, a pension or disability bank statement, or a document showing future pension eligibility. Hyundai's military bonus, by comparison, runs through ID.me. Bring the copy with you, because Kia says a military ID by itself is not sufficient proof.
Can my spouse use the Kia military program?
Yes. Kia's Military Specialty Incentive Program names the spouse of an eligible participant, and the spouse can buy in his or her own name. The spouse must give the dealer a copy of one of the service member's qualifying documents, such as an Earning Statement or discharge papers, plus proof of marriage, which Kia specifies as a marriage certificate. The terms read October 16, 2026 do not mention surviving spouses, so a widow or widower should ask the dealer to confirm eligibility before negotiating.
Is the Kia military bonus the same in every state?
On October 16, 2026 it was. Kia's offer data for ZIPs at 20 installations, from Naval Station Norfolk and Fort Bragg to Fort Hood, Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Schofield Barracks and Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, returned the same $500 Military Program with word-for-word identical terms. At Fort Bragg's ZIP it also appeared next to every model checked, from the K4 to the EV9. Kia's other deals do change by ZIP; the cheapest 24-month 2026 Sportage lease ran from $209 to $259 a month across those bases, so check the full list for the ZIP where you will sign.
Do veterans qualify for the Kia military discount?
Yes, with no separation deadline in the terms read October 16, 2026. Kia covers anyone honorably discharged from, retired from, or on disability with the U.S. Armed Forces or Reserves. That is wider than Toyota and Honda, which stop at two years after discharge. The catch is the paperwork: bring a copy of your honorable discharge papers or a bank statement showing military pension or disability pay, because a veteran ID card or military ID alone is not accepted proof.
