Part of: The Complete Guide to the SCRA

Verizon’s military discount is 10% off each eligible line on its current Unlimited plans. Verizon’s military FAQ, read November 4, 2026, says the Simplicity Plan and the Unlimited Ultimate, Unlimited Plus and Unlimited Welcome plans are “Eligible for a 10% discount applied per eligible line.” Verizon prints its Simplicity Plan at $30 for a single line after Auto Pay and its switch discount, and the military page prints it “for as low as $27/line.” That is $3 a line each month, or $36 a year per line.

You verify once with ID.me. Verizon says there is no annual renewal. The rest of this page is what Verizon’s own pages say, and the parts that trip people up.

What Verizon’s pages say

Three Verizon pages carry the rules: the military discount page, the mobile military FAQ and the Fios military FAQ. All were read on November 4, 2026.

QuestionWhat Verizon’s pages say
Discount on current plans10% per eligible line (Simplicity, Unlimited Ultimate, Plus, Welcome)
WhoUS active duty, retirees, veterans, current or former Guard or Reserve, Gold Star family and next of kin
VerificationID.me online, or in a Verizon store; DD Form 214 for Gold Star families
Who must registerThe member or Gold Star family member, who is also the Account Owner or an Account Manager
LinesApplied to up to 4 mobile lines, per the FAQ
RenewalNone annually; Verizon “may occasionally” re-verify
TimingShows on your bill 1 to 2 billing cycles after verification
Accessories25% off through My Verizon, 10% in a store; Apple products excluded
Not eligiblePrepaid and promotional plans

One number does not agree across the two pages. The fine print on the military page’s Simplicity offer says “Max 12 lines.” The FAQ says that once you qualify, “you apply it to up to 4 mobile lines on your account.” Plan on four discounted lines, and ask Verizon in writing before you count on more.

Older plans get a flat amount, not 10%

If you are still on an older Verizon plan, the discount is a flat dollar figure per account, not a percentage. For 5G Start, 5G Play More, 5G Do More and 5G Get More, plus older Unlimited plans, if you signed up on or after August 5, 2019, the FAQ lists:

Phones on the accountMilitary discount per account
1$10 a month
2 to 3$25 a month
4 or more$20 a month

Read the last row twice. A four-line account gets $5 less a month than a three-line account. Most other advertised Verizon phone plans get 15% off the account access charge instead. If you signed up for the military discount before August 5, 2019, Verizon says you keep your old amount, and Go Unlimited or Beyond Unlimited customers from before June 18, 2018 keep a $15 account-level discount.

The worked math: a two-line account on 5G Play More gets $25 a month, $300 a year. Before you move that account to a current plan for the 10%, price your actual lines. Two lines at a $3 a line discount is $72 a year, so the switch only makes sense if the new plan’s price is lower by more than that difference, or its features matter to you.

What you cannot stack

Verizon’s FAQ says the military discount does not combine with Deals at Work, the student discount, or the other Those Who Serve discounts for teachers, nurses and first responders. A dual-status household, say a veteran who is also a teacher, gets one of them.

What does combine: the Auto Pay and paper-free billing discount and Mobile + Home benefits. On the Simplicity offer, Verizon’s fine print says the $10 a month Auto Pay discount needs enrollment within 30 days, by ACH or a Verizon Visa card, and the $15 a month Switch and Save discount needs a smartphone number ported in or an uploaded bill from an eligible carrier dated within the past 45 days. The $27 price assumes both. Without them, you are not paying $27.

Fios and accessories

Fios carries its own military discount. On November 4, 2026 Verizon advertised Fios 300 Mbps “starting at just $26/mo” with Auto Pay. The fine print calls it a 10% Those Who Serve discount “applied to base monthly rate,” one offer per account, with a $99 professional setup charge that may be waived on some plans, plus credit approval and a possible deposit. The Fios FAQ lists the same eligible groups as mobile. Fios is only sold in parts of New Jersey, New York, Maryland, Delaware, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Virginia and Washington, DC.

Accessories are 25% off when you order through My Verizon and 10% off in a store, with Apple products excluded. The military page calls the 25% “Online only” and says “select accessories,” so check the price in the cart.

Verizon’s military page mentioned National Veterans and Military Families Month on November 4, 2026, but printed no separate Veterans Day offer. For companies that did post November 11 terms, see the Veterans Day 2026 discounts list.

The discount is not your SCRA right

The 10% is Verizon policy and can change. Your right to end a phone or internet contract when you get qualifying orders is federal law. Under 50 U.S.C. § 3956, you can terminate a cell phone or home internet contract once you receive orders to relocate for at least 90 days to a location that does not support the contract. You do it by written or electronic notice with a copy of your orders, and the provider cannot charge an early termination fee for it. Verizon’s military FAQ also offers a standard suspension when orders take you outside its coverage for up to 3 years and 90 days, and a short-term suspension of up to 90 days in a rolling 12 months.

The details, including what happens to a device payment plan, are on the Verizon SCRA suspension and cancellation page. The phone and internet cancellation guide covers every carrier, and the lease termination calculator works out your notice dates. If you are comparing carriers, Visible, which runs on Verizon’s network, lists no military discount at all, and the T-Mobile military page covers its plan.

Get the Verizon military discount

  1. Make sure the person with the military status is the Account Owner or an Account Manager on the Verizon account.
  2. Open Verizon’s military discounts page, click Verify military status, and sign in with ID.me. Gold Star families use a DD Form 214.
  3. Choose New to Verizon or Already with Verizon, and pick which lines get the discount. Plan on up to four.
  4. Turn on Auto Pay and paper-free billing within 30 days. It stacks with the military discount.
  5. Watch the next two bills for the credit. Verizon says it appears in one to two billing cycles.
  6. When orders come, file under the SCRA separately. See Verizon’s suspension and cancellation rules.

Frequently asked questions

How much is the Verizon military discount?

On Verizon's current Unlimited Ultimate, Unlimited Plus and Unlimited Welcome plans, it is 10% applied per eligible line, per Verizon's military and veterans FAQ read November 4, 2026. Older plans such as 5G Start, 5G Play More, 5G Do More and 5G Get More get a flat amount per account if you signed up on or after August 5, 2019: $10 with one phone, $25 with two or three, and $20 with four or more. Most other advertised Verizon phone plans get 15% off the account access charge. Prepaid and promotional plans are not eligible.

Who qualifies for the Verizon military discount?

Verizon's military FAQ, read November 4, 2026, lists US active duty, retirees, veterans, current or former Guard or Reserve members, and Gold Star family members and next of kin. Verizon's rule on who registers is stricter: the person applying must be both the military member or Gold Star family member and the Verizon Account Owner or an Account Manager. A spouse who owns the account cannot register on the member's service; the member has to be the owner or be added as an Account Manager first.

How do I verify for the Verizon military discount?

Through ID.me. From Verizon's military discount page you click Verify military status, then Get Started, and sign in to ID.me or create an account. Once validated, you pick New to Verizon or Already with Verizon and follow the prompts. Verizon says you get an email if you qualify, and the discount begins appearing on your bill one to two billing cycles after verification. Verizon also lets military members and veterans sign up in a Verizon store. Gold Star family members validate with a DD Form 214.

Do I have to renew the Verizon military discount every year?

No. Verizon's military FAQ, read November 4, 2026, says no annual renewal is required. Its military discount page says eligible members "generally keep our military discount for life" and that Verizon may occasionally contact you to re-verify status, so keep your contact information current. Verizon also warns that it will never call you unprompted to ask for account information, which is worth remembering if someone calls claiming your discount is about to lapse.

Can I combine the Verizon military discount with other discounts?

Partly. Verizon's FAQ says the military discount cannot be combined with Deals at Work, the student discount, or its other Those Who Serve discounts for teachers, nurses and first responders. It can be combined with the Auto Pay and paper-free billing discount and with Mobile + Home benefits. If your employer discount is bigger than 10% a line, compare before you switch, because you keep one or the other, not both.

Does Verizon give a military discount on Fios home internet?

Yes, where Fios is sold. Verizon's military page, read November 4, 2026, advertised Fios 300 Mbps from $26 a month with Auto Pay, a price that includes a 10% Those Who Serve discount on the base monthly rate, one offer per account, plus a $99 setup charge that may be waived on some plans. Verizon's FAQ lists Fios in parts of New Jersey, New York, Maryland, Delaware, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Virginia and Washington, DC. Eligibility matches the mobile discount, including Gold Star families.
