Mitsubishi Military Discount: $500 With Any Lender, Through March 2027
Part of: The Complete Guide to the SCRA
Mitsubishi’s military rebate is $500, and it comes without a lender string attached. The program page on mitsubishicars.com, read October 16, 2026, says you can use “the finance source of their choice,” including Santander Consumer USA, “or pay cash,” and keep any Mitsubishi customer rebate on top. That makes the $500 the easy part. The decision that moves real money is which factory deal you pair it with.
The offer runs from March 31, 2026 through March 31, 2027. With more than five months still left on it, the date to watch is November 2, 2026, when the current factory rebates end.
$500 in the offer, $750 in the page summary
Mitsubishi’s military page describes itself to search engines as offering “discounts of up to $750.” That line is the page’s own meta description, the summary text a search result can display. The page body says something else: “get an exclusive rebate of $500,” on “select Mitsubishi vehicles.” The offers page repeats $500 with the same March 31, 2027 end date. A check of the offers page on October 16, 2026 covered 23511 (Norfolk), 22134 (Quantico), 28310 (Bragg), 32542 (Eglin), 76544 (Hood), 80913 (Carson), 98433 (Lewis-McChord), 92055 (Pendleton), 96857 (Schofield) and 99505 (Elmendorf-Richardson). All ten showed the $500 notice word for word. None showed $750. Plan on $500, and if a dealer offers more, get it on the buyer’s order.

The paperwork, and the veteran clock
Mitsubishi publishes a specific document list, and the dealer has to collect it. Active duty and active reserve members need one of three items: a Leave and Earnings Statement “within the last 30 days,” a commanding officer’s letter on Department of Defense letterhead, or a printout from the DMDC SCRA website showing current active duty. The DMDC certificate guide shows how to pull that printout yourself. Retirees bring a Retiree Account Statement from the last 12 months or the latest 1099-R, CRSC or CRDP statement. Gray-area retirees without a statement bring the DoD letter on retired pay at age 60 and a driver’s license. A spouse who is the only name on the contract adds a marriage certificate, and the military spouses guide covers what else a spouse can sign alone. Black out your Social Security number, license number and birthdate first; Mitsubishi says documents are not accepted until those are redacted.
Veterans get two different answers on the same page. The FAQ covers veterans “discharged or released therefrom under conditions other than dishonorable” and accepts a DD-214 or a VA Veterans Identification Card, with no time limit. Footnote 2, which is attached to the $500 headline and labeled “Forms and documentation required by Mitsubishi Motors North America,” says a “Veteran who is within 12 months of separation from active service must provide DD Form 214.” Mitsubishi does not say which governs. Our advice, not Mitsubishi’s: treat 12 months as the safe reading, because the footnote is the text tied to the offer. If you are past it, get the dealer’s written word that the FAQ’s wording applies to you.
Trail Edition math: $4,500 cash or 1.99%
Here is where the stacking rule pays. On the 2026 Outlander Trail Edition, every ZIP read on October 16, 2026 showed a $4,500 factory rebate through November 2, 2026, and “Special APR or Special Lease offers not available with factory rebates.” The alternative is 1.99% for 72 months through Santander, for delivery by January 4, 2027, which is “not compatible with lease and customer cash.” The military $500 works with either, because Mitsubishi lets it ride on any finance source and any customer rebate.
Mitsubishi lists the Trail Edition “From $39,645,” and its lease examples add a $1,995 destination charge ($2,120 in Alaska and Hawaii). Treat that $41,640 as an illustrative sticker; tax, fees and any negotiated discount are left out.
| Choice | Financed | APR | 72 payments of | Total of payments |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1.99% Santander plus $500 military | $41,140 | 1.99% | $606.65 | $43,679 |
| $4,500 rebate plus $500, credit union at 5% | $36,640 | 5.0% (illustration) | $590.08 | $42,486 |
| $4,500 rebate plus $500, credit union at 7% | $36,640 | 7.0% (illustration) | $624.68 | $44,977 |
The crossover is about 5.97%. Below it, take the $4,500 and your own loan; above it, the 1.99% wins. Mitsubishi’s own figure, $14.75 a month for each $1,000 at 1.99%, puts the first row at $606.82, a 17-cent rounding gap. The factory amounts also vary by ZIP: the Outlander SE card read $3,500 at Norfolk, Quantico, Eglin and Fort Hood but $3,000 at the other six ZIPs, both through November 2, 2026. Plug your own figures into the savings calculator alongside a quote from one of the military credit unions.
Santander leases when orders come
Mitsubishi’s lease offers run through Santander Consumer USA and include “required refundable security deposit.” If a PCS to Hawaii, Alaska or abroad, or a long deployment, is likely, a lease is easier to unwind than a loan. Section 3955 of the SCRA lets you end a lease you signed in uniform on permanent change of station orders that move you from the continental United States to Alaska, Hawaii or abroad, or out of Alaska or Hawaii to a location beyond that state, or on deployment orders for 180 days or longer. You send written notice and the orders, then return the Outlander inside 15 days. Santander cannot add an early termination charge, and lease payments you made in advance for the months after termination are refunded within 30 days. A loan offers no such door. The car lease termination walkthrough has the steps.
Federal law on a Mitsubishi bought while serving
Federal law sets no rate ceiling on a Mitsubishi loan signed once you are on active duty. Section 3937(a) protects obligations from “before the servicemember enters military service,” and a Santander or credit union note signed later carries the rate written in it. The Military Lending Act is also out: 10 U.S.C. § 987(i)(6) and 32 CFR 232.3(f)(2)(ii) exclude credit that pays for a vehicle when that vehicle is the collateral. Mitsubishi’s terms name Santander Consumer USA as the lender behind its special rates and leases. For a Santander auto loan that predates your service, our SCRA page for Santander, the lender Mitsubishi names, covers its 6% process. The MLA vs SCRA guide explains the split.
Claim the Mitsubishi military rebate
- Ask the dealer in writing which models count as “select Mitsubishi vehicles” and confirm yours is one.
- Gather one document from Mitsubishi’s list: a 30-day LES, a CO letter on DoD letterhead, a DMDC printout, a retiree statement, or a DD-214 or VA ID card. A spouse buying alone adds a marriage certificate.
- Black out your Social Security number, license number and birthdate on every copy.
- Check the factory rebate for your ZIP on mitsubishicars.com, then compare it with 1.99% using a credit union quote and the 5.97% Trail Edition crossover above.
- Have the $500 military rebate listed on the buyer’s order next to the factory rebate or special APR you picked.
- Take delivery by March 31, 2027, and by November 2, 2026 if you want the current factory rebate.

Frequently asked questions
Does Mitsubishi offer a military discount?
Yes. Mitsubishi Motors North America calls it the Mitsubishi Military Rebate: $500 on select new Mitsubishi vehicles at participating dealers, valid from 3/31/2026 through 3/31/2027. On October 16, 2026, the same $500 notice appeared on Mitsubishi's offers page for ZIPs at Norfolk, Quantico, Fort Bragg, Eglin, Fort Hood, Fort Carson, Lewis-McChord, Pendleton, Schofield Barracks and Elmendorf-Richardson. Mitsubishi does not publish a list of the select models, so ask the dealer to confirm your vehicle in writing before you negotiate.
Is the Mitsubishi military rebate $500 or $750?
It is $500. The meta description on Mitsubishi's own military page, the summary a search result can show, says "discounts of up to $750." The page body says "get an exclusive rebate of $500," and the footnote and the offers page carry the same $500 with the 3/31/2027 end date. No ZIP read on October 16, 2026 showed $750. Mitsubishi does not explain the $750 figure, and the dated offer text is what a dealer will apply. If a dealer quotes $750, get it written on the buyer's order.
Does Mitsubishi have a veterans discount?
Yes, but Mitsubishi's page gives two answers on how long it lasts. Its FAQ includes veterans "discharged or released therefrom under conditions other than dishonorable," and accepts a DD-214 or a VA Veterans Identification Card, with no time limit. Footnote 2, attached to the $500 offer, says a "Veteran who is within 12 months of separation from active service must provide DD Form 214." Mitsubishi does not say which controls. Within 12 months you are covered by both; past 12 months, get the dealer's written confirmation before you start negotiating.
What documents do I need for the Mitsubishi military rebate?
Active duty or active reserve: an LES from the last 30 days, a letter on Department of Defense letterhead from your commanding officer, or a printout from the DMDC SCRA website. Retirees: a Retiree Account Statement from the last 12 months, or the latest 1099-R, CRSC or CRDP statement. Gray-area retirees: the DoD letter on retired pay at 60 plus a driver's license. A spouse buying alone adds a marriage certificate. Mitsubishi says your Social Security number, driver's license number and birthdate must be blacked out first.
Can I use my credit union or pay cash and still get the Mitsubishi military rebate?
Yes. Mitsubishi's FAQ, read October 16, 2026, says eligible customers "can utilize the finance source of their choice, including any special or standard Santander Consumer USA Financial APR or Lease Financing, or pay cash." They also "remain eligible for any applicable MMNA customer rebate, dealer incentive, or dealer delivery bonus," and the rebate combines with the Loyalty or Conquest Rebate when offered. You must take delivery within the program period, and the rebate is not transferable.
