A $3,500 Lowe’s card balance carried into active duty costs about $1,120 a year at the card’s 31.99% purchase APR. Held to 6%, it costs $210. That is about $910 a year, forgiven outright, plus a lower monthly payment. (Simple interest on a flat balance. The agreement compounds daily, so the real number is a little higher.)

If two late payments have already pushed the account to the 36.99% penalty rate, the same balance costs about $1,295 a year, and the cap is worth about $1,085.

The card is now MyLowe’s Rewards, and Synchrony still holds it

The agreement Synchrony posts for Lowe’s consumer card is titled “MyLowe’s Rewards Credit Card Account Agreement,” revised April 2026, with Synchrony Bank as the lender. Synchrony’s old Advantage Card address now forwards to Lowe’s credit page, which blocks automated reads; we read it in a browser on October 19, 2026. Everything below comes from Synchrony’s agreement, that page and the promotion PDF Lowe’s hosts on lowes.com, read against the text of § 3937. Synchrony’s own SCRA number and the lawsuit alleging post-separation clawbacks are on our Synchrony guide; this page is about the Lowe’s contract.

TermMyLowe’s Rewards Credit CardPre-service account under § 3937
Purchase APR31.99%6% while you serve
Penalty APR36.99%, after two late payments in 12 cycles, possibly indefinite6% while you serve
Current promoNo interest if paid in full within 12 months, $299 or more, bought Sept. 10 to Oct. 28, 2026Our reading: post-call-up accrual at 6%
Fixed-payment plansOn $2,000 or more: 36 payments at 7.99% or 60 at 8.99% (installed sales), 84 at 9.99%6%, and the fixed payment should drop
Minimum interest charge$2.00Part of the 6%
Late or returned paymentUp to $41 eachFees count as interest
Paper statement$1.99 a monthFees count as interest

The rate table says it is “accurate as of March 7, 2024,” and the April 2026 and June 2026 versions of the agreement still print 31.99% and 36.99%. Checked October 19, 2026.

”No Interest For” means deferred interest

The agreement lists four promotions by name: “No Interest For 6 Months,” 12, 18 and 24. The name sounds like a 0% plan. The fine print says otherwise: if you miss the deadline, “interest will be assessed on the promotional purchase from the date of the purchase.” A $2,000 order on the current 12-month offer, left unpaid, posts about $640 of interest at 31.99% when the year runs out (simple interest on an illustrative balance).

Two Lowe’s details make that easier to trip. The agreement says “some or all of the minimum payment based on the promotional balance may be applied to other account balances,” so paying the minimum may not shrink the promo at all. And Lowe’s promotion sheet says the 12-month offer “is not automatic and must be requested at time of purchase.” If the cashier rings it as a regular purchase, it is billed at the regular purchase rate.

Timing matters here too. The promotion sheet defines the “purchase date” as “the date it is charged to your account,” and says the account is charged immediately unless the sales receipt says otherwise. A special-order kitchen ordered in August but charged after your start date is, on that definition, arguably a debt you took on during service, which the statute does not cap. If you know your report date, ask that big orders be charged before it, and keep the receipt that shows the charge date.

The agreement also bills any optional debt cancellation product as a separate monthly charge added to your minimum payment. If you bought one, list it in your SCRA request and ask how it is treated under the 6%.

For a promo you bought before service, the 6% rule reaches the obligation once you are called up. Our reading of § 3937 is that interest accruing after your start date is capped at 6% even if it is billed later, while earlier months stay at the contract rate. Synchrony publishes no position. Ask before the end date, in writing, and pay the promo down directly rather than trusting the minimum.

36.99% and the Military Lending Act

If the account was opened during your qualifying active-duty service, or by your spouse or another dependent during it, the Military Lending Act governs instead of the 6% cap. Synchrony’s notice switches off the arbitration clause and any term inconsistent with the MLA for anyone covered when the account opened. Item three gives a disclosure line, 1-855-367-4541.

The penalty rate is the term to understand. The MLA rule lets a card issuer leave a reasonable bona fide fee out of the Military APR, but only one “other than a periodic rate,” per 32 CFR 232.4(d)(1). A penalty APR is a periodic rate, so it always counts, and the 36.99% printed in the agreement is above the 36% ceiling on its own. For a covered borrower, that is exactly the kind of term the notice says will not apply: the 36% limit governs instead. The MAPR explainer shows how the per-cycle figure is built. If your account dates from covered service and you miss payments, ask Synchrony in writing what rate it will apply under the notice.

The store discount is a separate program

Lowe’s military page (read in a browser on October 19, 2026) offers 10% off most full-priced items, in stores and on Lowes.com, to service members, veterans and their spouses who verify through ID.me. Sale items, services, major appliances and commodities such as dimensional lumber are excluded. The card has its own 5% off, and Lowe’s credit page says that discount cannot be combined with the Military Discount, so you pick one. Either one cuts the price; neither touches the card’s 31.99%.

Lowe's card: claim the cap

  1. Confirm when your Lowe’s account was opened, from a statement or by asking Synchrony. The account’s start date counts, not the card’s current name.
  2. Note the rate on the statement. If it says 36.99%, the cap matters even more; see how late fees and penalty rates are treated.
  3. List each “No Interest For” purchase with its end date, then pay each one directly instead of relying on the minimum.
  4. Put your request to Synchrony in writing, orders attached; the letter generator writes it. Lowe’s card customer service is 1-800-444-1408 for account questions.
  5. Ask in writing for the new rate, its start date, and how each open promo’s accrued interest will be treated.
  6. If you are not yet on orders and have a big project coming, read the pre-service debt strategy before you swipe.

Frequently asked questions

Does the Lowe's credit card have SCRA benefits?

It gets exactly what the statute gives, because Lowe's and Synchrony publish nothing more. The MyLowe's Rewards Credit Card agreement read October 19, 2026 carries the MLA notice but no section on the SCRA. Under 50 U.S.C. § 3937, whatever you owed on the card before your active-duty start is held to 6% while you serve, including the 31.99% purchase rate and the 36.99% penalty rate, and interest above 6% is forgiven. Send Synchrony a written request with your orders within 180 days after you leave service.

Is the Lowe's Advantage Card still a Synchrony card?

Lowe's consumer card is still a Synchrony card. The one Lowe's offers now is the MyLowe's Rewards Credit Card, and its agreement names Synchrony Bank of Draper, Utah as the lender. Synchrony's old Lowe's Advantage Card address, synchrony.com/lowesadvantagecard, now forwards to the Lowe's credit page. Whatever your card is called today, SCRA eligibility turns on when the account was opened, so confirm that date on a statement or with Synchrony.

Does the 6% cap apply to Lowe's No Interest promotions?

Only in part, on our reading, and only for promos you bought before service. The agreement charges interest back to the purchase date if a promo is still unpaid when it ends. Section 3937 limits debt you brought into service to 6% for the service period and treats fees and charges as interest, so interest accruing after your start date should be limited to 6%. Synchrony has published nothing on it. The safest move is to clear each promo before it ends.

Does Lowe's have a military discount on top of the card?

Yes, but it does not stack with the card's own discount. Lowe's military page, read in a browser on October 19, 2026, gives 10% off most full-priced items, in stores and online, to service members, veterans and spouses who verify through ID.me. It excludes sale items, services, major appliances and commodities such as lumber, and cannot be used with any other discount. Lowe's credit page says the card's 5% off cannot be combined with the Military Discount. Neither changes the card's interest rate.
