SimpliSafe Military Discount: 50% Protectors Code and Why It Fails

SimpliSafe publishes a real military discount: half off a new system. It also runs public sales, one of them at the same 50% on October 10, 2026, and the code never combines with a sale. Its monitoring has no contract, so the money question on orders is small. The bigger risks are a code that seems broken and an account only one person can close. Every SimpliSafe fact below was read on its own sites on October 10, 2026.

The page does not say the code requires a monitoring plan. The public sale does.

Why the code “is not working”

Searches for “SimpliSafe military discount code not working” have a short list of answers, all in SimpliSafe’s own terms:

  1. A sale is running. On Saturday, October 10, 2026, SimpliSafe’s banner read “National Home Security Sale, ends Tuesday”: 50% off plus a free $199 Outdoor Camera on any new system with professional monitoring. A Protectors code cannot ride on top of that.
  2. You are adding to a system you own. SimpliSafe says the code is valid only on a new system, and its site sells add-ons for current owners separately under “Expand my system.”
  3. You bought somewhere else. The discount is only available on SimpliSafe.com, not at another retailer.
  4. You already paid. The code cannot be applied retroactively.
  5. The code is spent or old. Each code is one use and expires after a year. A new one is available once every 24 hours.

Here is the code in dollars, on the list prices SimpliSafe showed October 10, 2026. Break-In Detection lists at $282.94, so half off with a Protectors code is $141.47. Intruder Deterrence lists at $498.92 ($249.46 with the code), and Complete Protection at $818.88 ($409.44). The sale running that day priced the same three packages at about half with a monitoring plan, plus the free camera, so the code added nothing that week. When a sale like that runs, take the sale if you want monitoring. The Protectors code earns its keep between sales, and it may be the route if you do not want a monitoring plan, since its terms name no plan requirement.

Monitoring, priced for a deployment

PlanPrice SimpliSafe listsAbout 30 days270-day deployment
Core$1.10 a day$33.00$297.00
Pro$1.66 a day$49.80$448.20
Pro Plus$2.66 a day$79.80$718.20

Plan prices read October 10, 2026; the monthly and deployment columns are this page’s arithmetic. SimpliSafe bills monthly in advance on the same day each month, and its plans page says “No contract. Cancel any time.” Cancelling a Core plan before a nine-month deployment keeps about $297 in your pocket. You lose the lifetime equipment warranty while unsubscribed, because SimpliSafe ties it to an active professional monitoring plan.

SimpliSafe’s terms against § 3956

50 U.S.C. § 3956 covers home security services. It applies to a contract signed before you received military orders to relocate for a period of not less than 90 days to a location that does not support the contract, and to a contract signed after PCS orders that a stop-movement order of 30 days or more, or of indefinite length, then keeps you from using. The contract cancellation guide explains the section; here is how it lines up with SimpliSafe.

QuestionSimpliSafe’s terms (November 2025)§ 3956
Termination fee”There are no termination fees”Barred, (e)(1)
Unused full monthsRefundedRefunded within 60 days, (f)

How to cancelChat or 1-888-783-8441; the terms also list mail, 1-800-548-9508, and an app requestWritten or electronic notice, a copy of orders, and the end date, (a)(3)
When it takes effectOn SimpliSafe’s “receipt and confirmation”The date in your notice
Who may cancelThe account owner only, possibly after a Safe Word checkYou; a spouse or dependent in the cases in (a)(4)

SimpliSafe’s own terms already come close to the statute on money, though they set no refund deadline and the statute sets 60 days. Beyond that deadline, the statute matters in two places. First, timing: SimpliSafe makes a cancellation effective only after it confirms the request, while under § 3956(a)(3) termination is made by delivering the notice, a copy of the orders, and the end date. If a confirmation call slips past your billing date, your written notice is the record that the charge should not stand. SimpliSafe could answer that its confirmation step is part of the “industry standards for notification of terminations” the statute itself refers to, so send the notice early enough that the question never comes up. Second, family: under § 3956(a)(4), the spouse or dependent of a member who dies in service or suffers a catastrophic injury or illness in service is treated as a covered servicemember, a case SimpliSafe’s account-owner rule does not address.

Put the refund date for any prepaid months in the deadline checker.

Cancel or pause SimpliSafe on orders

  1. Before you deploy, check who the account owner is. SimpliSafe’s support page says only the account owner can cancel or downgrade. Ask SimpliSafe how to make your spouse the owner, or whether it will act on a power of attorney; its pages do not say.
  2. Pick your date before the next billing date. SimpliSafe’s terms say a cancellation before that date creates no charge for the coming month.
  3. Cancel by chat or at 1-888-783-8441, with your Safe Word ready. Some states also allow an online request from the Security Dashboard during business hours.
  4. Send written notice the same day with your orders and end date, citing 50 U.S.C. § 3956. The letter generator drafts it. Keep the confirmation email SimpliSafe sends the account owner.
  5. If you are leaving the system in a house you sold or rented out, call 1-888-692-0229 first, then remove the cameras and smart locks from your account so the next occupant can activate them.
  6. Keep the hardware. You own it, so there is nothing to return under the statute’s 10-day equipment rule, which covers equipment a provider rents or loans.

Moving with it, or leaving it

Overseas orders. SimpliSafe’s Terms of Sale say purchases are available only in the United States and that you agree not to use any SimpliSafe product or service from outside the United States. An OCONUS PCS means cancelling monitoring, not shipping the system to Germany or Japan.

Buying before a move. SimpliSafe’s satisfaction guarantee runs 60 days from delivery, item by item. If orders might move you soon, a system bought now can still go back inside that window.

Coming back. If you re-subscribe within 90 days beginning on the last day of your relocation, § 3956(e)(2) bars a reinstatement charge beyond the usual equipment charges any customer pays.

For a provider with long-term contracts and its own SCRA page, compare ADT. For the household side of a move, spouse and family coverage and PCS money moves cover the rest.

The law behind this: 50 U.S.C. § 3956

Termination of certain consumer contracts: mobile, landline, internet, TV, gym, and home security: read the statute , or read § 3956 in plain English, with its enforcement record .

Frequently asked questions

Does SimpliSafe have a military discount?

Yes. SimpliSafe's Protectors Program, on its support site (updated June 26, 2026) and at SimpliSafe.com/Protectors, read October 10, 2026, offers 50% off a new system purchase on SimpliSafe.com to members of the military and armed forces, including active duty, dependents, and veterans. You verify through VerifyPass, which may require a free account, and receive a one-time code for checkout. It is U.S. only, for buyers 18 or older, and SimpliSafe can change or end it without notice.

Why is my SimpliSafe military discount code not working?

SimpliSafe's terms give the likely reasons. The code cannot be combined with other discounts or promotions, so it will not apply on top of a running sale. It is valid only on a new system, only on SimpliSafe.com, and never retroactively. Each code is good for one use and for one year, and you can get one code per 24 hours. On October 10, 2026, a public sale already took 50% off new systems with monitoring, so the code had nothing left to add.

Can military spouses and veterans get the SimpliSafe discount?

Yes, by SimpliSafe's own wording. Its Protectors page and support article list active duty, dependents, and veterans under Military and Armed Forces, and VerifyPass handles the verification. The discount is on a new system bought on SimpliSafe.com; the page does not extend it to monitoring fees. If a spouse buys the system and opens the account, check who is listed as account owner, because SimpliSafe says only the account owner can cancel or downgrade monitoring.

Can I cancel SimpliSafe monitoring when I deploy?

Yes, at any time and without a fee. SimpliSafe's terms (November 2025) say there are no termination fees, a cancellation before the billing date avoids the next month's charge, and unearned charges for full calendar months after termination are refunded. Partial months are not. Cancel by chat or at 1-888-783-8441. If your plan began before orders that relocate you for 90 days or more to a location that does not support it, 50 U.S.C. § 3956 also applies.

Can I take SimpliSafe overseas on a PCS?

Not under its terms. SimpliSafe's Terms of Sale say purchases are available only in the United States and that you agree not to use any SimpliSafe product or service from outside the United States. The equipment is yours, so you can store it stateside. For overseas orders, plan to cancel monitoring, and keep the system for your next stateside home. A system delivered within the last 60 days may still fall inside SimpliSafe's satisfaction guarantee.
