What OneMain Financial owes you

The cap is retroactive to your first day of active duty, and the excess interest is forgiven rather than deferred. Put your numbers in to see the size of your claim, then generate the letter that asks for it.

Simple-interest estimate on a fixed balance, capped at 6%: the 6% statutory ceiling (50 U.S.C. § 3937). OneMain Financial publishes no lower rate, so 6% is your guaranteed floor. A revolving balance that moved over the period will differ. It sizes the claim; it is not an amortization schedule and not legal advice.

Write the letter to OneMain Financial

Written notice is what starts the clock. Fill these in and the letter below is yours to copy, print, and send with a copy of your orders.

Where to send it: Request form at onemainfinancial.com/request-benefits; attach orders, DD 214, or power of attorney (.jpg, .jpeg, .png, .pdf, max 3MB)

Nothing you type here leaves your browser. The letter is built on this device.

OneMain Financial is a branch-based installment lender, and its SCRA desk has a name: the Military Family Support Unit. One page and one form cover three brands, OneMain personal loans, Foursight Capital auto loans, and BrightWay credit cards (verified August 2026). What OneMain publishes is the statute, cleanly: a 6% interest rate cap for servicemembers who entered active duty after the loan originated, plus repossession, foreclosure, judgment, and eviction protections. Nothing below 6% is printed, and no processing time is stated.

OneMain’s contract rates make the cap worth the ten minutes the form takes. An $8,000 four-year OneMain loan at 30% APR opened before you entered service costs about $5,800 in interest over its life; the same loan capped at 6% costs about $1,000, and § 3937(a)(2) forgives the difference for your months of service. The savings calculator will run your actual balance.

Filing with the Military Family Support Unit

Request SCRA benefits from OneMain, Foursight, or BrightWay

  1. Gather your loan account number (OneMain or Foursight) or the last four digits of your BrightWay card, and your orders. OneMain lists activation orders, enlistment documentation, commanding officer letters, discharge papers (DD 214), and power of attorney forms as acceptable attachments.
  2. Open onemainfinancial.com/request-benefits. The form asks for name, date of birth, last four of your Social Security number, home address, email, phone, and the account identifiers. Check the box if you are filing on behalf of a servicemember.
  3. Attach your orders and, if a spouse or family member will manage the account, your power of attorney or authorization letter. Files must be .jpg, .jpeg, .png, or .pdf under 3MB. Add a written § 3937 request from the letter generator so the record shows a dated notice.
  4. Prefer paper? Mail the same information to OneMain Financial, Attn: Military Family Support, PO Box 1170, Evansville, IN 47706-1170 and keep proof of delivery.
  5. Call (844) 859-1878 (Monday to Friday, 0800 to 1630 Central) or email MilitaryFamilySupport@omf.com if you have questions or if the next statement does not show the 6% rate and a lower payment.
  6. Confirm the applied rate, the retroactive adjustment to your duty start date, and the end date in writing, per account. Already overpaid? The refund guide applies.

Where OneMain borrowers slip

Three brands, one file. A Foursight auto loan and a BrightWay card are serviced under different names, and OneMain says one form covers a loan and a card together. List every account you hold across the three brands so the unit does not cap one and miss another. Auto borrowers should also read the repossession guide: OneMain’s page lists repossession protection for pre-service loans, and that protection is court-order-only under the statute.

The account was opened at your duty station. OneMain’s page is explicit that the 6% cap and the repossession and foreclosure protections belong to servicemembers who entered active duty after the loan originated. A loan you signed while already serving is a Military Lending Act question, not an SCRA one.

Deployment without a POA on file. OneMain says it needs your written permission to speak with a spouse or third party unless the account is jointly originated or an approved power of attorney is already on file. Its page accepts the SCRA power of attorney and asks you to contact your Military Legal Service Office to complete it. Do this before you leave, and upload it with the SCRA request.

Assuming the branch will handle it. OneMain’s page routes the benefits request to the form, the Evansville box, or the (844) SCRA Specialist line. The local branch is mentioned only for one task: a loan customer who needs to submit a spouse authorization letter separately is told to contact the branch. File the SCRA request through the published channels and keep the confirmation.

Waiting for a status update that is not promised. With no published processing time, silence is the risk. If two statement cycles pass without a change, call the SCRA Specialist line and, if refused, use the escalation playbook. See how OneMain compares with lenders that publish faster clocks on the bank leaderboard.

Frequently asked questions

What SCRA rate does OneMain Financial apply?

OneMain publishes the statutory 6% interest rate cap and no lower figure. Its military benefits page lists interest rate caps alongside repossession, foreclosure, judgment, and eviction protections, and states that the 6% cap and the protections from non-judicial repossession and foreclosure are available to servicemembers who entered active duty after the loan originated (verified August 2026). Excess interest is forgiven back to your duty start date under 50 U.S.C. § 3937.

How do I request SCRA benefits from OneMain, Foursight, or BrightWay?

Fill out the request form at onemainfinancial.com/request-benefits, which asks for your name, date of birth, last four of your Social Security number, address, email, phone, and either your loan account number (OneMain and Foursight) or the last four digits of your BrightWay card, with attachments up to 3MB in .jpg, .png, or .pdf. Or mail the same information to OneMain Financial, Attn: Military Family Support, PO Box 1170, Evansville, IN 47706-1170. Questions go to (844) 859-1878, Monday to Friday, 0800 to 1630 Central, or MilitaryFamilySupport@omf.com.

How long does OneMain take to apply the cap?

OneMain publishes no processing time. The statute requires the reduced rate to be effective as of the date you were called to service once the creditor has your written notice and orders, so watch the next statement, and if it has not changed, call the SCRA Specialist line and ask for the status of the request by account number.

Can my spouse handle the request or the account while I am deployed?

OneMain states it needs your written permission to speak with a spouse or third party unless the account is jointly originated or an approved power of attorney is already on file. Its page accepts the Servicemembers Civil Relief Act power of attorney and possibly other forms. An authorization letter must include the dates covered, your account number or last four of your BrightWay card, a statement authorizing release of information to the named person with their contact details, and your signature. You can upload it with the SCRA request form.

I have both a OneMain loan and a BrightWay card. Do I file twice?

No. OneMain states that if you have a loan and a BrightWay credit card, one request form covers both accounts. Enter the loan account number and the last four of the card in the same submission.
