Orangetheory Military Discount: No Corporate Offer; 60-Day Freeze Cap
Part of: The Complete Guide to the SCRA
Orangetheory’s corporate site posts no military discount, and the cost that follows a PCS is written into its own cancellation form. A member who cancels a term membership before the Initial Term ends will have “any remaining payments due under the Initial Term” charged as scheduled. That is an early termination charge by another name, and 50 U.S.C. § 3956(e)(1) bars it when qualifying orders end the contract. This page puts Orangetheory’s published rules next to the statute, with one studio’s prices to show the dollars.
No military rate on Orangetheory’s corporate pages
On October 9, 2026, Orangetheory’s FAQ, memberships page, promotion terms, and terms of use had no military offer, and the address orangetheory.com/en-us/military redirected to the home page. The FAQ says “Our rates and fees vary based on studio,” and the site’s footnotes say “each studio is individually owned and operated.”
The studio on Skibo Road in Fayetteville, North Carolina, outside Fort Bragg, shows what that means. Its page listed 14 membership and class-pack products, from a 5-class pack to family and corporate memberships. None was a military rate. If a studio near you offers one, it is that owner’s choice, and it belongs on your agreement.
| Fayetteville, NC option | Price | Commitment |
|---|---|---|
| Premier, unlimited classes | $179 a month | Month-to-month |
| Premier 6 Month | $169 a month | 6-month term |
| Premier 12 Month | $149 a month | 12-month term |
| Elite, 8 classes | $119 a month | Month-to-month |
| Basic, 4 classes | $79 a month | Month-to-month |
| Class packs | $239 for 10, $409 for 20, $549 for 30 | None |
One studio’s numbers, read on its orangetheory.com page October 9, 2026. The studio’s late-cancel fee was $12, and its 12-month card advertised “Save $30/mo.”
What the cancellation form says, and what § 3956 says
Orangetheory’s cancellation page hosts a request form, and the form ends with the rules. The corporate memberships page adds a “Month-to-Month Contract” with “30-Day Cancellation,” and freeze privileges of 60 days at most, up to twice a year. Section 3956 covers a fitness contract signed before orders that relocate you for 90 days or more to a location that does not support the contract, plus a contract signed after PCS orders that a stop-movement order then blocks. The general explainer covers every provider type.
| Topic | Orangetheory’s form and site | § 3956 |
|---|---|---|
| Notice | 30-day policy; payments scheduled within 30 days “will occur as scheduled” | Your notice names the end date, (a)(3); money paid for time after it comes back, except the current billing period, (f) |
| Term memberships | Remaining Initial Term payments “will be charged by us as scheduled” | No early termination charge, (e)(1) |
| Frozen accounts | Must be reactivated before a cancellation is processed | No account-status condition; you may terminate any time after receiving orders, (a)(1) |
| Unused sessions | 30 days after your last payment to use them, then forfeited | Amounts paid for time after your end date come back within 60 days, except the current billing period, (f) |
| Refunds | ”Please contact your home studio” | Refund of amounts paid for later periods due within 60 days of the termination date, (f) |
Orangetheory column read October 9, 2026 on its cancellation form, memberships page, and FAQ; statute read the same day in the 2024 edition on GovInfo.
The term row carries the money. A 12-month Premier member who cancels four months in owes eight more payments under the form. The statute lets the studio collect what was “due and unpaid” when you terminated, not payments for months you will never use.
The Fayetteville 12-month term, priced
Take a Soldier at Fort Bragg on the Premier 12 Month plan at $149. PCS orders arrive after four payments. For this illustration, eight payments remain; your agreement shows the real count.
| Path after orders | What you pay |
|---|---|
| Cancel under the form’s term rule | 8 x $149 = $1,192 |
| End it under § 3956 | No termination charge; at most the current month, $149 |
| For comparison: a month-to-month Premier member cancelling without orders, under the 30-day rule | Up to one more $179 draft |
Figures exclude tax and any OTBeat heart rate monitor, which Orangetheory says is not refundable.
The term saves $30 a month, or $360 a year, against month-to-month Premier. A civilian who moves early gives that back and more. A servicemember whose orders qualify keeps the savings without the $1,192 exposure. Be honest about the edge cases: orders under 90 days do not qualify, and Orangetheory says a membership works at more than 1,300 studios in the United States, so a move to a city with a studio you can use weakens the “does not support” argument. Orangetheory’s FAQ, memberships page, and cancellation form state no transfer rule; ask the studio.
Deployment: the freeze runs out first
The freeze is Orangetheory’s own tool, and its cap matters. Two 60-day freezes cover about four months in a year. A longer deployment outruns them. The form says every location offers a freeze “for a small amount” in place of monthly billing, to hold your rate, but the form names no amount and the Fayetteville studio page listed none.
The trap is the order of events. If you freeze for a deployment and PCS orders follow, the form says the account must be reactivated before a cancellation is processed. Send your § 3956 notice anyway, while frozen, with the end date you want. The statute sets no account-status condition. A draft for a month that begins after your end date is money paid for time after termination: dispute it in writing, because § 3956(f) requires the studio to refund it within 60 days. Deployment orders of 90 days or more, to a place with no studio, fit the statute’s words too, so a long deployment can be a termination instead of a freeze.
Cancel Orangetheory on orders
End an Orangetheory membership under § 3956
- Check your agreement for a 6-month or 12-month Initial Term and its end date. That tells you how much the form would charge.
- Complete the form at orangetheory.com/en-us/cancellation-information, choose to cancel, and pick your home studio. “Relocation” is the closest listed reason.
- Email the studio manager a separate notice: your name, studio, end date, and “I am terminating under 50 U.S.C. § 3956; do not charge remaining Initial Term payments.” The letter generator drafts it.
- Attach orders showing a relocation or deployment of 90 days or more, and say in the notice why no studio serves the new location.
- If the account is frozen, say so and ask the studio not to reactivate billing.
- Watch the next two statements. Dispute in writing any term payment, or any draft for a billing period after the one you end in; refunds are due within 60 days.
A studio that keeps billing after a lawful termination can be reported, and the enforcement guide covers DOJ complaints and private suits.
Guard, Reserve, and family members
Guard and Reserve members on qualifying orders are treated as covered servicemembers under § 3956(a)(4)(C), but a drill weekend is not a relocation; Guard and Reserve coverage explains which orders count. A spouse’s own membership is covered only in the narrow cases the family guide lists. Crunch is another franchise brand, with a 60-day minimum stay on its Killeen club’s join page; the Crunch page prices it. For the bills that dwarf a class membership, use the deployment checklist.

Frequently asked questions
Does Orangetheory offer a military discount?
Not on its corporate site. On October 9, 2026, Orangetheory's FAQ, memberships page, promotion terms, and terms of use had no military offer, and orangetheory.com/en-us/military sent visitors to the home page. The Fayetteville, North Carolina studio outside Fort Bragg listed 14 membership and class-pack products online and none was a military rate. Orangetheory says each studio is individually owned and operated and sets its own rates, so a military price, where one exists, is that studio's decision. Ask the front desk and get it in writing.
Can I cancel Orangetheory with military orders?
Yes, if the orders relocate you for 90 days or more to a place your membership cannot serve and you joined before receiving them. 50 U.S.C. § 3956(b)(1)(E) covers gym memberships and fitness programs, and § 3956(e)(1) bars early termination charges. Orangetheory's cancellation form says a term member who cancels during the Initial Term will still be charged the remaining payments. On qualifying orders, charging those future payments works as the early termination charge the statute forbids.
How long can I freeze Orangetheory for a deployment?
Orangetheory's memberships page lists freeze privileges of 60 days at most, up to twice a year. Its cancellation form says every location offers a freeze "for a small amount" in place of monthly billing, without naming the amount. Two freezes cover about four months, so a longer deployment outruns them. The form also says a frozen account must be reactivated before a cancellation can be processed, so if a deployment turns into a PCS, put your § 3956 notice in writing right away.
Do I have to give Orangetheory 30 days notice to cancel?
For an ordinary cancellation, yes. The form says Orangetheory has a 30-day cancellation policy unless your agreement says otherwise, and any payment scheduled within 30 days of your request will still be drafted. Section 3956 sets no 30-day rule of its own: under § 3956(a)(3), your notice names the date service is to end. Under § 3956(f), the studio may keep the rest of the billing period you end in, but money paid for time after your end date must be refunded within 60 days.
Is a 12-month Orangetheory term worth it if I might PCS?
At the Fayetteville, North Carolina studio, the Premier 12-month term cost $149 a month on October 9, 2026, against $179 for month-to-month Premier, a $360 yearly difference. A civilian who moves early owes the rest of the term under Orangetheory's form. If your orders qualify under 50 U.S.C. § 3956, that balance is barred. Short orders under 90 days, or a move to a city with a studio you can use, may not qualify, so weigh that risk.
