Pure Barre has no military discount at the brand level, and none of 37 studios near installations listed one. What a barre member on orders actually faces is the studio agreement: a 3-month minimum, a fee for leaving inside it, a 30-day written notice, and a freeze that a deployment does not unlock. Federal law under 50 U.S.C. § 3956(e)(1) removes the fee when qualifying orders end the contract.

What Pure Barre publishes, and who you contract with

Pure Barre’s website terms, last modified July 11, 2025, are an agreement with PB Franchising SPV, LLC. They make every membership “subject to Pure Barre standard membership policies and your applicable membership agreement(s) with your applicable studio(s).” A membership bought on the website can be cancelled any time, but you “shall not be entitled to nor receive a refund of any kind,” and the terms send you to “your state’s membership agreement addendum” or your studio for details.

Pure Barre’s member booking system lists each studio’s packages. On October 10, 2026, this site pulled the listing for 37 studios, each in a metro area with a major installation, and searched every package name and description for military, veteran, hero, first responder, active duty, and service member. None matched. Two of the 37 listed no monthly plans at all. The studios: Fayetteville and Wilmington, North Carolina; Clarksville, Tennessee; Columbus, Savannah, Pooler, and Augusta, Georgia; Colorado Springs and Northgate, Colorado; two in El Paso and two in San Antonio; Virginia Beach, Norfolk, Chesapeake, Newport News, Stafford, Fredericksburg, and Woodbridge, Virginia; Pensacola, Destin, and two in Jacksonville, Florida; Dothan and Huntsville, Alabama; Carlsbad-Oceanside and two in the San Diego area; Anchorage; Annapolis and Crofton, Maryland; Summerville, South Carolina; Tucson; Shreveport; Dayton; and Kahala, Hawaii. A studio can still make a deal at the front desk; the scan covers only what the booking system lists. University and employer deals turn up in search results for individual studios, but none appeared in those listings.

Two studio agreements, two different exits

The agreement behind each package loads from ClubReady, the billing company the agreements name. Both forms read on October 10, 2026 share a core: the studio is “an independently owned and operated franchisee,” leaving inside the initial term costs an early termination fee, cancelling takes 30 days’ written notice, unused classes are forfeited at the end of the billing cycle, and freezes are for “medical reasons” only, at up to $15 a month. Both list a “Club Enhancement Fee” billed yearly on your anniversary date. The served forms left the dollar amounts for the termination fee and the enhancement fee blank, so get both numbers in writing before you sign.

They differ on moving:

  • Fayetteville, North Carolina (C.H.M. Companies LLC) uses a North Carolina form. You may cancel without penalty, with a pro rata refund, if you move more than 8 miles from your present location and more than 30 miles from the studio, and it cannot transfer you to a comparable facility within 30 miles of your new home.
  • Clarksville, Tennessee (LYTA Fitness LLC) uses a form whose heading reads “Recurring Dues Membership Agreement California.” It allows cancellation for a move of more than 25 miles with no comparable studio within 25 miles, but the studio may charge a $100 move fee, or up to $50 once more than half the term has run.

The agreements against § 3956

Section 3956 covers a fitness program signed before your orders once those orders relocate you for at least 90 days to a location that does not support the contract; a stop-movement order that blocks a contract signed after PCS orders also qualifies. The § 3956 explainer covers the other contract types, and the statute page has the text.

The deployment row is the one the move clauses miss. A sailor or soldier who deploys usually keeps the same home address, so neither form’s move clause applies, and the medical-only freeze does not either. The statute is the only exit that fits.

Orders one month into a Fayetteville plan, priced

A soldier joins the Fayetteville 8-class plan at $129 a month and gets nine-month deployment orders after the first payment.

End a Pure Barre membership under § 3956

  1. Ask the studio for your signed agreement and the dollar amounts of its early termination fee and Club Enhancement Fee.
  2. Write the notice: name, studio, the date service ends, and “I am terminating under 50 U.S.C. § 3956; no early termination or move fee applies.” The letter generator drafts it.
  3. Attach your orders. For a deployment, say that your residence is unchanged and the studio cannot serve you while deployed.
  4. Deliver both the way the agreement names, in person or by certified mail to the studio, and email a copy to the studio address on Pure Barre’s member site, such as fayetteville@purebarre.com. Keep proof of both.
  5. Use your remaining classes before the end date; the agreements forfeit them.
  6. Dispute in writing any draft for a billing period that starts after your end date. The refund is due within 60 days under § 3956(f).

Spouses, Guard members, and other barre studios

A spouse’s own membership is covered only in the narrow cases the family guide explains, so a spouse on a routine PCS should look first at the move clause in the studio’s form. Guard and Reserve members on qualifying orders are covered; Guard and Reserve coverage sorts the orders. Club Pilates studios use the same style of member booking site; the Club Pilates page prices those agreements. A studio that bills past a valid notice is a matter for the enforcement guide.

The law behind this: 50 U.S.C. § 3956

Termination of certain consumer contracts: gym memberships and fitness programs: read the statute , or read § 3956 in plain English, with its enforcement record .

Frequently asked questions

Does Pure Barre offer a military discount?

Not as a brand. On October 10, 2026, the packages Pure Barre's member site listed for 37 studios near military installations included no military, veteran, or first responder plan, and purebarre.com's own pages named none. Studios are franchised: both agreements read name an independently owned franchisee, and prices differ by studio, so a military deal exists only if a studio owner offers one. Ask the studio, and have any rate written into your agreement, since the agreements read say verbal promises from staff are not valid.

How much is Pure Barre a month near a base?

Each studio sets its price. On October 10, 2026, Fayetteville, North Carolina listed 4 classes a month for $79, 8 for $129, and Unlimited for $169 after a discounted first month. Clarksville, Tennessee and Colorado Springs listed $89, $139, and $179. Stafford, Virginia listed $69, $119, and $159. Every one of those recurring plans was marked with a 3-month minimum. A single class was $30 at each.

Can I cancel Pure Barre on military orders during the 3-month minimum?

Yes, if the orders relocate you for 90 days or more to a place the studio cannot serve and you joined before them. 50 U.S.C. § 3956(e)(1) bars an early termination charge, which reaches the fee the studio agreements charge for leaving inside the initial term. Under § 3956(f), money paid for time after your end date comes back within 60 days, except the billing period you end in. Send the studio written notice, a copy of your orders, and the end date.

Can I freeze Pure Barre for a deployment?

Not under the agreements read. The Fayetteville and Clarksville forms allow a freeze only if you are temporarily unable to use the studio for medical reasons, possibly with a doctor's note, in monthly blocks requested 14 days before billing, at up to $15 a month. A freeze also pushes back the end of your minimum term. For a deployment of 90 days or more, termination under 50 U.S.C. § 3956 is the tool, and it carries no termination fee.

Who do I cancel Pure Barre with, the brand or the studio?

The studio. Pure Barre's website terms, last modified July 11, 2025, make every membership subject to your studio's agreement and point you to your state's addendum or your local studio for cancellation details. The Fayetteville agreement names C.H.M. Companies LLC as an independently owned franchisee and says PB Franchising is not a party. The agreements take notices in person or by certified mail to the studio, so use one of those, email a copy to the studio address on its member page, and keep both.
