Veterans Day 2026 Military Discounts: 20 Offers Read at the Source
Part of: The Complete Guide to the SCRA
Veterans Day 2026 is Wednesday, November 11, and the most valuable free thing that day comes from the government: free entrance at every national park that charges one. After that come thirteen chains serving food and three haircut and retail brands whose 2026 terms were posted on their own websites when we read them on November 3, 2026. Each row links that page and copies its limits.
Popular lists mix this year’s offers with ones from 2025, 2024 and even 2020. If a company had not posted 2026 terms on its own site by November 3, it is not here. More chains announce in the final week, and this page will be checked again before November 11.
The free days and passes from the government
The National Park Service fee-free list, last updated October 9, 2026, names November 11: Veterans Day. Every NPS site that charges entrance is free that day, but new for 2026, only for U.S. citizens and residents, and timed entry or reservation fees still apply.
The bigger prize is a pass that makes every day free. Veterans, including Guard and Reserve, and Gold Star Families get the Military Lifetime Pass at no cost; current members and dependents get the free Military Annual Pass. Either covers one private vehicle and everyone in it. Neither covers camping, tours or reservation fees.
| Agency | What is free | Who qualifies | Checked |
|---|---|---|---|
| National Park Service | Entrance at every fee-charging NPS site on November 11, 2026 | U.S. citizens and residents | Nov 3, 2026 |
| NPS military passes | Lifetime or annual pass, free at a park or as a Recreation.gov digital pass | Veterans incl. Guard and Reserve; current members | Nov 3, 2026 |
| U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service | Entrance at refuges that charge one, November 11, 2026; not hunting, fishing or tour fees | Everyone | Nov 3, 2026 |
| USDA Forest Service | Recreation fees at most day-use sites, November 11, 2026; concession sites vary | Everyone | Nov 3, 2026 |
The agency lists no longer match. The Forest Service still lists Martin Luther King Jr. Day and National Public Lands Day for 2026; the NPS list has neither and adds June 14. For other holidays, read the list of the agency that runs the site.
Restaurant offers posted for November 11, 2026
Every row was read on the company’s own page on November 3, 2026. Where it says “participating,” call your location first.

Outback’s banner says “Dine-in only,” but its terms also allow to-go orders placed by phone, never online or through delivery apps. Chipotle’s release carries a November 5, 2026 dateline; we read it on its newsroom November 3.
Haircuts and retail
These three pages were also read on November 3, 2026.
| Company | Offer, as the company prints it | Who qualifies | Proof the page names |
|---|---|---|---|
| Great Clips | Free haircut on Nov 11, or a card for later, good through Dec 4, 2026 | Veterans and active military | None stated |
| Sport Clips | Free haircut at participating stores on Nov 11 | Veterans and service members | None stated |

Target’s page printed no year and no terms beyond “Terms & conditions apply,” so treat it as announced but not detailed.
What proof each company asks for
Nine of the sixteen company pages say something about proof, and only Chipotle and Bob Evans list documents. Seven print nothing, so carry two forms anyway.
- NPS lifetime pass: a DoD ID card (DD Form 2, DD Form 2765 or the Next Generation USID), a Veteran Health Identification Card, the VA Veteran ID Card (VA issues it only in digital form now), or a veteran designation on a state driver’s license or ID. The annual pass takes a CAC, a DD Form 1173 or the Next Generation Dependent ID.
- Chipotle: a military ID, a VA veteran or health ID, a state ID with a veteran designation, or discharge paperwork.
- Bob Evans: a uniformed services ID or retiree card, a current LES, a VFW or American Legion card, a photo of yourself in uniform, wearing your uniform, or a DD-214 and a citation or commendation.
- Everyone else who says anything: Red Robin, Kona Grill and Hopdoddy want ID or proof of service without defining it; Wendy’s and Outback ask you only to identify yourself; Pilot uses ID.me.
Many veterans reach for a DD-214, but the NPS lifetime pass list does not include it. A veteran mark on your driver’s license is on both the NPS and Chipotle lists.
Where the popular lists are wrong this year
November 11, 2026 is a Wednesday. “Tuesday, November 11” is 2025 text and “Monday, November 11” is 2024. On November 3, one widely read list still carried those dates for IHOP, Hooters, Famous Dave’s, Biscuit Belly and Gold Star Chili.
The weekday test misses 2020, when November 11 was also a Wednesday. Wendy’s 2020 page, still live, promises a free small breakfast combo on “Wednesday, November 11.” Its 2026 release offers a Dave’s Single instead, not valid in a combo.
Chipotle’s 2025 offer was a free second entree from 4 to 8 p.m.; its 2026 FAQ says this year’s is “not a percentage discount, free entrée or buy-one-get-one-free entrée promotion.” Pilot’s 2025 release still sits beside its October 23, 2026 one, so check the date.
Applebee’s, IHOP, Denny’s, Texas Roadhouse and Cracker Barrel blocked automated reads on November 3, 2026, so they are not listed even where other lists show them. Logan’s Roadhouse’s Veterans Day page carries a 2022 publish date. We found no 2026 offer on the Dunkin’, Hooters or Lazy Dog sites. Any that post terms will be added once read on their own page.
A free meal is one day. These pay all year.
If you serve with debt from before active duty, the SCRA caps its interest at 6%. On an illustrative $6,000 card balance at 24%, that cuts interest from about $1,440 a year to about $360, a $1,080 difference. The SCRA rate cap hub shows how each lender applies it, and the refund calculator prices your own balance. If you separated recently, the veterans’ SCRA guide covers what survives your separation date.
The MILITARY STAR card page covers its separate 6% deployment program, and the fee waiver guide the annual fees issuers drop for those serving. Veterans should see the best bank for veterans and state tax on military retirement pay. The benefits finder sorts it by your status.
Plan your Veterans Day 2026 in five steps
- Get the free NPS Military Lifetime Pass on Recreation.gov now, or at the park gate on November 11, and keep it for every visit after.
- Pick a meal and a backup, and reopen the company page on November 11 to confirm nothing changed.
- Call ahead where a company says “participating.” Golden Corral starts at 4 p.m.; Hy-Vee’s breakfast ends at 10 a.m.
- Carry a photo ID that shows service, plus a second document.
- Then go after the bigger money: run your balances through the SCRA refund calculator and see what else applies in the benefits most people never use.
Who has been caught violating this protection
7 Department of Justice actions on interest rate cap in this site's ledger, newest first, each transcribed from the DOJ record.
- Citibank, N.A. (Espin v. Citibank, private class action)(2023): On September 29, 2023, the court denied Citibank’s motion to compel arbitration, adopting the position the United States advocated. The underlying rate-cap claims continued in litigation; this record reflects the arbitration ruling only.
- American Express National Bank (Padao v. American Express, private class action)(2023): No settlement stated in the DOJ record; the entry documents the United States backing servicemembers’ right to press SCRA rate-cap claims as a class.
- BayPort Credit Union(2022): Consent order (entered March 18, 2022, four-year term): $69,443.10 deposited in escrow to compensate 21 servicemembers whose 6% rate requests were denied or misapplied and three servicemembers whose vehicles were repossessed without court orders, with BayPort to add funds if the payments came to more (DOJ’s case page says $69,443.10 to 24 servicemembers; the complaint places one soldier in both groups), a $40,000 civil penalty, and changes to BayPort’s SCRA rate-benefit and repossession policies plus employee training.
- Westlake Services, LLC and Wilshire Commercial Capital(2022): Settlement addendum (September 27, 2022): $185,460 to 250 servicemembers who were not backdated or who waited more than 60 days, an additional $40,000 civil penalty, and revised SCRA policies, procedures, and training.
- Conn Credit I, LP, Conn Appliances, Inc., and Conn’s, Inc. (Conn’s HomePlus)(2020 to 2021): Consent order (entered January 29, 2021): refund all overcharged interest plus an additional $500 to each servicemember, a $50,000 civil penalty, and an independent consultant hired to identify every affected servicemember, over a three-year term.
- Sallie Mae (Navient Solutions, Navient DE Corporation, Sallie Mae Bank)(2014): $60 million in compensation, with about 60,000 servicemembers estimated to receive payments, plus a $55,000 civil penalty. Sallie Mae also had to ask all three credit bureaus to delete negative entries caused by the overcharges and improper judgments, and to stand up a streamlined SCRA intake process.

Frequently asked questions
Are national parks free on Veterans Day 2026?
Yes. The National Park Service fee-free list, read November 3, 2026, names November 11: Veterans Day, and says every NPS site that charges an entrance fee offers free admission that day. Two limits: beginning in 2026 the free days apply to U.S. citizens and residents only, and timed entry or reservation fees can still apply. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the Forest Service also list November 11, 2026 as a fee-free day on their own sites.
How do veterans get the free national park lifetime pass?
Veterans, including National Guard and Reserve, and Gold Star Families qualify for the free Military Lifetime Pass, per the NPS military pass page read November 3, 2026. Get it free at a park, as a free digital pass on Recreation.gov ($7.50 shipping if you want a physical card), or by mail from the USGS Store for a $10 processing fee. At a park, a veteran shows a DoD ID card, a Veteran Health Identification Card, the VA Veteran ID Card, or a veteran mark on a state driver's license or ID. A DD-214 is not on that list.
What proof of service do restaurants want on Veterans Day?
It depends on the company, and several print nothing. Chipotle accepts a military ID, a VA veteran or health ID, a state ID with a veteran designation, or discharge paperwork. Bob Evans also accepts an LES, a VFW or American Legion card, or a photo of yourself in uniform. Red Robin, Kona Grill and Hopdoddy ask for ID or proof of service. Wendy's and Outback say you only need to identify yourself. Carry a photo ID that shows service, plus a backup, and you are covered at all of them.
Is Wendy's giving veterans a free breakfast combo in 2026?
No. Wendy's own release, dated November 2, 2026, offers a free Dave's Single to veterans and active-duty military on November 11, 2026, no purchase needed, one per person, inside or at the drive-thru. It is not valid in a combo or on digital, delivery or kiosk orders. The free small breakfast combo that many lists still show was Wendy's 2020 offer. Its 2020 page is still live, and because November 11 was also a Wednesday in 2020, the weekday on it looks current.
Can my spouse or kids get the free meal too?
Usually not. Golden Corral says family and friends are welcome but pay regular dinner prices, and the free meal is for the person who served. Chipotle says only the eligible service member or veteran can redeem its offer. The exceptions are on the government side: the free Military Annual Pass covers current service members and their dependents, and any pass admits everyone in one private vehicle. Kona Grill also extends its offer to Gold Star Families.
