WOW! publishes no military discount, but it has something more useful: a military cancellation clause written into its own contract. Section 8 of its Minimum Term Plan terms, posted on wowway.com and read October 10, 2026, waives the early termination fee for a member of the United States Armed Services with orders to relocate outside WOW’s service area for 90 days or more. The clause has one condition that costs people money if they miss it: the notice has to be in writing, and it has to reach WOW before the service is disconnected.

WOW’s terms beside § 3956

Section 3956 covers “internet access service” and “multichannel video programming service” signed before “military orders to relocate for a period of not less than 90 days to a location that does not support the contract.” The phone, cable, and internet guide explains the section; here is how WOW’s documents compare, checked October 10, 2026:

The fee WOW waives, worked out

WOW’s terms set the fee at $165 on a 12-month plan and $345 on a 24-month plan, reduced by $15 “for each complete month” you keep and pay on time for the plan’s services and your other WOW services. A late month may not count toward the reduction.

3$120$300$0
6$75$255$0
9$30$210$0
12Term over$165$0
18Term over$75$0

To find out whether you are on a term at all, read your bill. The terms say covered services appear under names such as “Loyalty Annual Plan,” “Choice Agreement Plan,” or “Minimum Term Plan.” WOW’s 2026 offer terms sell internet with a “Price Lock for Life” and no term, so newer customers have no fee to waive; their money is in the refund and equipment rules below.

Where WOW’s clause and the statute differ

WOW’s clause is narrower in three ways. It speaks of a “member of the United States Armed Services,” while the statute spells out Reserve and Guard duty and, in limited cases, spouses and dependents; see who counts for Guard and Reserve. It requires orders “outside of a WOW! service area,” and WOW serves towns next to several installations: its equipment rate card, effective September 1, 2026, lists a “Ft. Gordon” market (the post is Fort Gordon, Georgia, on the Army’s own site today) alongside Augusta, Columbus, Huntsville, Montgomery, Dothan, and Panama City. Orders from one WOW market to another fall outside the clause’s words, and so do WOW’s two other move waivers: one covers a move within the local service area when you keep all your services there for the rest of the term, the other a move by anyone to a place outside every WOW service area, proved with evidence such as a lease. For those orders, the statute’s test, a location that “does not support the contract,” is the argument to make; WOW’s terms tie your contract to the operating company for your area. And the clause says nothing about money you prepaid. WOW bills monthly in advance, and its internet terms allow charges “up to thirty (30) days in advance.” Section 3956(f) makes WOW refund anything paid for time after your stop date, other than the current billing period, within 60 days.

So cite both. The clause gets a fast yes from a representative who knows it; the statute covers the gaps.

Equipment and TV

WOW’s internet terms require all WOW equipment back “within ten (10) business days” of disconnection, or WOW charges the repair cost or replacement value it sets. Optical network terminals and fiber terminals stay in the house. The rate card prices a leased modem at $14 a month in most cable markets, though the 2026 offer terms include the modem lease at no cost while the subscription continues; WOW’s return page sends you to a FedEx Ship Center, a Walgreens, or a WOW drop box with a prepaid QR label. Because the statute’s 10 days can be shorter than 10 business days, ship inside 10 calendar days.

WOW’s 2026 offer terms sell TV only as YouTube TV billed through WOW. Its terms say YouTube TV can be cancelled any time with no refund for partial billing periods, and the $5-a-month WOW TV Pro box must be returned.

Cancel WOW on military orders

  1. Check the orders: 90 days or more, to a place outside WOW’s service area, issued after you signed. The eligibility checker covers who counts.
  2. Find your plan name on the bill to see whether a Minimum Term Plan fee is in play.
  3. Before anything is disconnected, write to WOW: your account, the stop date, a copy of the orders, and a line invoking Section 8 of the Minimum Term Plan terms and 50 U.S.C. § 3956. The letter generator drafts it.
  4. Call 1-866-496-9669, ask where to send the letter, and mail a copy with tracking to WOW! Internet, Cable and Phone, Attn: Legal Department, 7887 E. Belleview Ave., Ste 1000, Englewood, CO 80111, the escalation address in its internet terms.
  5. Return the modem and any TV Pro box within 10 calendar days of disconnection using WOW’s prepaid label, and keep the receipt.
  6. Check the final bill for an early termination fee and for charges past your stop date. If you return, the deadline checker tracks the 90-day period, beginning on the last day of your relocation, when § 3956(e)(2) bars a reinstatement charge.

The same orders usually let you break an apartment lease, and PCS money moves covers the rest of the list.

Frequently asked questions

Does WOW Internet offer a military discount?

No discount appears on WOW's own site. Its 2026 offer terms, equipment rate card, help center, and moving page, read October 10, 2026, list AutoPay and paperless billing credits, a Price Lock for Life, and new-customer offers, and none is tied to military service. What WOW does have for service members is a contract clause: its Minimum Term Plan terms waive the early termination fee when you notify WOW in writing, before disconnection, of orders relocating you outside a WOW service area for at least 90 days.

Will WOW waive the early termination fee for military orders?

Yes, under its own terms. Section 8 of WOW's Minimum Term Plan terms says you are not responsible for the fee if, before disconnection, you notify WOW in writing that you are a member of the United States Armed Services with military orders to relocate outside a WOW service area for not less than 90 days. WOW may ask for a copy of the orders. Federal law reaches the same result: 50 U.S.C. § 3956(e)(1) bars an early termination charge when qualifying orders end an internet or cable contract you signed before getting them.

How much is WOW's early termination fee?

WOW's Minimum Term Plan terms, effective October 1, 2018 and posted on wowway.com October 10, 2026, set the fee at $165 on a 12-month plan and $345 on a 24-month plan. Each drops $15 for every complete month you keep and pay on time for the plan's services and the other WOW services on your account. Six months into a 24-month plan, that is $255; twelve months in, $165. The terms add that the fee is subject to change, so check the plan you signed.

How do I know if I am on a WOW contract?

Look at your bill. WOW's Minimum Term Plan terms say covered services appear under package names such as Loyalty Annual Plan, Choice Agreement Plan, Choice Bundle Minimum Term, Minimum Term Plan Discount, or Minimum Term Plan. If none appears, you are likely month to month. WOW's 2026 offer terms describe a Price Lock for Life on the base internet rate with no term, which ends if you change your service package, so there is no fee to waive, only the refund and equipment rules.

How do I return WOW equipment?

WOW emails return instructions with a QR code for a prepaid label. You drop the box at a FedEx Ship Center or Walgreens, or use a WOW drop box, and track it in the WOW Equipment Return Hub. Optical network terminals and fiber terminals stay in the home. WOW's internet terms require return within 10 business days of disconnection or charge the repair cost or replacement value. Section 3956(e)(3) sets 10 days after disconnection, which can be shorter, so ship within 10 calendar days and keep the receipt.
