Brinks Home Military Cancellation: Every Month Left, or $0 on Orders

Brinks Home publishes no military discount and no military cancellation policy. What it does publish is blunt: the monitoring plan “is a contract for the agreed term (usually 36 months),” and “If you cancel early, you must pay the remaining monthly fees in full” (fee guide, read October 10, 2026). For a member with orders, that sentence is the whole cost of leaving, and federal law takes it to zero when the orders qualify.

Brinks’s terms beside § 3956

Since January 2023, § 3956(b)(1)(F) has listed “home security services” among the contracts a servicemember may end after “military orders to relocate for a period of not less than 90 days to a location that does not support the contract,” provided the contract came first. The section bars “an early termination charge.” The phone, cable, and internet guide explains the rest. Brinks’s own pages, checked October 10, 2026:

The early-exit bill, worked out

The offer terms on Brinks’s terms page price monitoring at $29.99 to $54.99 a month depending on the package, most often $39.99 or $49.99, always on a 36-month contract. Brinks does not publish the monitoring contract itself, and its FAQ says any early termination fee is “as set forth in the monitoring contract,” so these are estimates from the fee guide’s wording: the months left times the rate.

Orders arrive afterAt $39.99 a monthAt $49.99 a monthWith qualifying orders
6 months (30 left)$1,199.70$1,499.70$0
12 months (24 left)$959.76$1,199.76$0
24 months (12 left)$479.88$599.88$0
30 months (6 left)$239.94$299.94$0

Two smaller charges ride along. The $6.40 monthly Cost Recovery Fee in Brinks’s fee table is billed each month you stay. Brinks Home Plus, the maintenance plan many current offers require, has a 12-month initial term, and its terms charge “one hundred (100%) percent of the remaining payments owed during the Initial Term” if you cancel early, unless you never used its services. Name the plan in your notice. Whether a stand-alone maintenance plan counts as “home security services” is not something the statute’s text settles, so if Brinks bills that charge, ask in writing what it is for.

Where Brinks’s process and the statute part ways

Brinks’s cancellation article says the account “will cancel 30 days from the date the request is processed or on the contract term date, if you are still under contract.” Neither clock is the statute’s. Under § 3956(a)(3) your notice states “the date on which the service is to be terminated,” and § 3956(f) requires the provider to refund, within 60 days, anything paid for time after that date “except for the remainder of the monthly or similar billing period in which the termination occurs.” A 30-day notice requirement is what the Justice Department alleged ADT imposed on at least 3,400 servicemembers, in a case settled April 14, 2026; the ADT case record has the details, and the most common SCRA violations shows how often “one more month” is the whole violation.

The process also has a 7-day fuse. Brinks’s article says the emailed cancellation document must be signed and returned within 7 days or the link expires, and a new link means another call. Sign it the day it arrives, and file a copy with your own § 3956 letter and the orders.

Brinks’s displayed cancellation article names no military exception and no address for orders (read October 10, 2026). Do not count on a courtesy program; put the statute in writing.

What stays owed, and what stays behind

Section 3956 ends the contract, not a loan. Brinks’s FAQ says a financed equipment balance remains due “pursuant to your equipment financing contract,” and its offer terms show equipment is sold, not leased, so there is usually nothing to ship back. Its moves page says the panel “must remain in the prior residence.”

If you would rather keep Brinks at the next house, the move program costs a $75 service fee, asks for at least 20 days’ notice, excludes customers with more than 24 months left on their term, and requires a new contract with “a minimum 36-month term.” That resets the clock the table above runs on. For a short assignment or a move overseas, ending the contract is usually the cheaper path.

End a Brinks Home contract on orders

  1. Confirm the orders qualify: 90 days or more, to a place the contract does not support, issued after you signed. The eligibility checker covers who counts, and spouses and families have narrower rights.
  2. Call 469.391.4024 (Monday to Saturday, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Central) and ask for a copy of your contract and the date your term ends.
  3. Tell the representative you are terminating under 50 U.S.C. § 3956 and ask where to send your orders. Sign the emailed cancellation document within 7 days.
  4. Send your own notice with a copy of the orders and the stop date. The letter generator drafts it; mail a copy to 1501 Lyndon B Johnson Fwy, Suite 700, Dallas, TX 75234 with tracking.
  5. Check the final bill: no remaining monthly fees, any Brinks Home Plus charge explained in writing, and nothing billed past the current billing period. Prepaid amounts past your stop date are due back within 60 days.
  6. If you will want monitoring again, note the last day of your relocation in the deadline checker: § 3956(e)(2) bars a reinstatement charge during the 90-day period beginning on that day.

Other home security companies handle orders very differently: ADT publishes an SCRA page, and Vivint runs its own military program.

The law behind this: 50 U.S.C. § 3956

Termination of certain consumer contracts: internet access, mobile, landline, TV, gym, and home security: read the statute , or read § 3956 in plain English, with its enforcement record .

Frequently asked questions

Does Brinks Home Security have a military discount?

Not one Brinks publishes. Its FAQ, its fee guide, its moving pages, its promotions page, and the offer terms on brinkshome.com list new-customer equipment discounts, all tied to a minimum 36-month monitoring contract, and none tied to military service (read October 10, 2026). For a service member the larger number is the contract itself. Orders that relocate you for 90 days or more to a place the contract does not support let you end it under 50 U.S.C. § 3956 without the early termination charge, which on Brinks's terms is every remaining monthly fee.

How long is a Brinks Home Security contract?

Usually 36 months. Brinks's fee guide says the monitoring plan is a contract for the agreed term, usually 36 months, and its online order terms say all product purchases require a minimum 36-month monitoring contract. The optional Brinks Home Plus maintenance plan has its own 12-month initial term that renews yearly. Moving your service to a new home through Brinks's move program requires accepting a new contract with a minimum 36-month term, according to the terms on its moves page.

What is the Brinks Home cancellation fee?

Brinks's fee guide says that if you cancel early, you must pay the remaining monthly fees in full, and its FAQ says the early termination fee is set by your monitoring contract. By that wording, $39.99 a month with 24 months left would be $959.76. Brinks Home Plus adds 100% of its remaining payments if cancelled in its first 12 months, unless you never used its services. Financed equipment balances stay owed either way. To see your exact clause, call 469.391.4024 and ask for a copy of your contract; the request must come from the contract signer or spouse, with an email address.

How do I cancel Brinks Home with military orders?

Call 469.391.4024, Monday to Saturday, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Central, and say you are terminating under 50 U.S.C. § 3956 because of military orders. Brinks says cancellation cannot be started by chat or text. It emails a cancellation document that you must sign within 7 days. Ask the representative where to send a copy of your orders, and send your own written notice with the orders and the date service should end. Section 3956(a)(3) requires the notice, the orders, and that date.

What is the Brinks Home cancellation address?

Brinks publishes no mailing address for cancellations; its help center routes them through a phone call and an emailed document. The address printed in the footer of brinkshome.com is 1501 Lyndon B Johnson Fwy, Suite 700, Dallas, TX 75234 (read October 10, 2026). If you want a paper trail beyond the e-signature, mail your § 3956 notice and a copy of your orders there with tracking, in addition to the phone call, and keep the receipt with the signed cancellation document.
