Ring Military Discount: VerifyPass Code, Not ID.me, and Plan Refunds

Ring gives service members a discount code at checkout, and its pages set no military terms for its plans. The code is easy to claim and hard to price, because Ring no longer prints the number. The plan is where the money sits on orders: Ring sells its plans by the month or by the year, and its terms say no fee is refunded. Every Ring fact below was read on ring.com on October 10, 2026.

Ring’s military discount, as published

TermWhat Ring’s give-back page says
WhoMilitary and Veterans: active duty, veterans, and retirees
HowClick Get Code, sign in to VerifyPass, apply a one-time code at checkout
LimitOne code per 24 hours; each code used once
PercentageNot printed on the page or in the VerifyPass box
StackingNot with other codes, other Ring discounts or promotions, or retroactively
WhereU.S. only; ring.com checkout
ChangesRing may change or end the program at any time without notice

The verifier is the first correction. Searches for “Ring military discount ID.me” lead nowhere current: Ring’s page uses VerifyPass, and Ring’s 2019 announcement used ID Discount. That 2019 post is also the last place Ring printed a figure, 20% off select products. Read the discount line in your cart before you pay.

The stacking rule is the second. Every Ring plan includes 10% off select products, applied automatically when you are signed in. The give-back terms bar combining a code with “other Ring discounts,” so a plan subscriber picks one. If your code turns out to be worth less than 10%, skip it.

What a Ring plan costs, and Ring’s cancel terms

PlanMonthlyYearlyIncludes
Ring Solo$4.99$49.99Video history and alerts for one device
Ring Multi$9.99$99.99All devices at one location; extended warranty
Ring Pro$19.99$199.99Multi plus 24/7 Professional Monitoring
Virtual Security Guard$99.00Not listedPro plus live video monitoring by agents

Prices plus tax, read October 10, 2026. Plans auto-renew until cancelled. Ring’s terms of service (effective November 6, 2025) bill each period on its first day and say subscription fees “are non-refundable.” After you cancel, the plan runs to the end of the period, and you lose access to your recorded video when it ends. Ring’s cancel page adds one clause that matters here: refunds are not available “unless required by applicable law.”

Ring can do the math when it wants to. Its plan management page says an upgrade cancels the old plan and gives “a prorated credit for the unused time.”

When § 3956 reaches a Ring plan

50 U.S.C. § 3956 lets you end a covered contract signed before you received military orders to relocate for a period of not less than 90 days to a location that does not support the contract. Home security services are a covered contract type under (b)(1)(F). A second trigger covers a contract signed after PCS orders when a stop-movement order of 30 days or more, or of indefinite length, then keeps you from using it. The provider may not charge an early termination fee and must refund advance payments within 60 days, minus the billing period you end in. The contract cancellation guide covers every other part of the section.

Which Ring plans fit. Ring Pro includes 24/7 Professional Monitoring, the core of a home security service, so it is the clearest fit. Solo and Multi are video history and alert plans for security cameras. The statute does not define “home security services,” and Ring could argue a video plan is something else. Write the notice for every plan you hold, and expect the Pro plan to be the easiest case.

Which orders fit. The statute’s test is orders to relocate for 90 days or more “to a location that does not support the contract.” Ring’s facts answer that by address. Its professional monitoring covers the 50 states, not the territories, plus Canada outside Quebec, so orders to Guam, Puerto Rico, or overseas send a Pro plan somewhere Ring does not monitor. Inside the 50 states, Ring’s moving page says you edit the address in the app and “retain your subscription at your new address.” If Ring serves the new duty station, the relocation trigger’s words do not describe that move, and Ring’s own cancel terms govern instead.

The annual plan refund, worked

Say you paid $199.99 for a year of Ring Pro on January 1, then received orders to Guam and set March 20 as your termination date. Section 3956(f) requires a refund of any amount paid “for a period extending until after such date, except for the remainder of the monthly or similar billing period in which the termination occurs.”

ReadingWhat Ring keepsRefund due by May 19
The claim: “monthly or similar” means a month-length period, so Ring keeps through March 31$50.00 (3 of 12 months)$149.99
Ring’s likely counter: the billing period is the year you paid for, so the exception covers all of it$199.99$0

This page found no court ruling on an annual plan. The statute’s words “monthly or similar” are the case for the first reading; Ring’s non-refundable terms are the case for the second, and only a court could settle it. The 60-day refund deadline runs from the termination date; the deadline checker computes it.

The cleaner fix is buying the right plan. Ring Pro costs $239.88 a year paid monthly, $39.89 more than the annual price. Ten months of monthly billing ($199.90) costs about what the year does. If orders could come within 10 months, monthly costs you nothing extra and removes the refund fight.

End a Ring plan on orders

  1. Download any videos you want to keep. Ring’s cancel page says to save them before you cancel, because access ends with the plan.
  2. Write the notice: your name, Ring account email, plan, location, termination date, and “I am terminating under 50 U.S.C. § 3956 and request a refund of amounts paid for any period after that date.” Attach your orders. The letter generator drafts it.
  3. Send it to Ring Customer Support, which Ring’s terms name for cancellation and refund requests, and by mail to Ring LLC, 12515 Cerise Ave, Hawthorne, CA 90250, Attn: Customer Service. Keep proof of both.
  4. Cancel the plan in your ring.com account under Plan, or in Your Memberships and Subscriptions if Amazon bills it.
  5. Put the refund deadline on your calendar: 60 days after the termination date.
  6. Keep the hardware. Ring devices you bought are yours, so the statute’s 10-day return rule for provider-owned equipment does not apply.

Things members trip on with Ring

Professional monitoring and permits. If you keep Ring at a new stateside address, the app makes you switch to self-monitoring before changing the address, and Ring says you may need a new alarm permit there.

Device returns are short. Ring gives 45 days from the ship date for a full refund on ring.com orders. That clock is separate from your plan and from § 3956.

Coming back. Under § 3956(e)(2), if you re-subscribe within 90 days beginning on the last day of your relocation, the provider may not charge a reinstatement fee beyond the usual equipment charges any customer pays.

Guard, Reserve, and family. Section 3956(a)(4) treats a reserve component member performing military service as covered, and reaches a spouse or dependent in narrower cases. The Guard and Reserve guide and family guide explain them.

For comparison, ADT publishes an SCRA termination page and settled a DOJ case over its notice practice in April 2026, and Vivint runs its own military cancellation program. Ring’s pages read for this article show neither.

The law behind this: 50 U.S.C. § 3956

Frequently asked questions

Does Ring have a military discount?

Yes. Ring's Give-Back Discounts page, read October 10, 2026, lists Military and Veterans, covering active duty, veterans, and retirees. You sign in to VerifyPass, get a one-time code, and apply it at checkout on ring.com, limited to one code per 24 hours. The program is U.S. only and Ring can change or end it without notice. The page does not print a percentage. A 2019 Ring blog post put the military discount at 20% off select products; check the code's value in your cart.

Does Ring use ID.me for its military discount?

No. As of October 10, 2026, Ring's give-back page says to click Get Code and sign in to VerifyPass, and the verification box on the page is VerifyPass's. Ring's 2019 announcement used a service called ID Discount. If you are searching for a Ring offer inside ID.me, you will not find the current program there; start from ring.com/give-back instead. For each later purchase, Ring says to return to that page and repeat the step, one code per 24 hours.

Can I use the Ring military discount with my Ring plan's 10% off?

No. Ring's plans page says Solo, Multi, Pro, and Virtual Security Guard subscribers get 10% off select products, applied automatically. The give-back terms say codes may not be combined with other Ring discounts or promotions or applied retroactively. You get one or the other on an order, so compare the two in your cart. During a Ring sale, the code may not apply on top of the sale price.

Can I cancel Ring Protect with military orders and get a refund?

Ring's own cancel page says a cancelled plan runs to the end of the billing period, and refunds are not available "unless required by applicable law." 50 U.S.C. § 3956 is such a law when it applies: a plan signed before orders that relocate you for 90 days or more to a location that does not support it. The provider must refund money paid for time after your termination date within 60 days, except the rest of the billing period you end in. On a monthly plan that is little. On an annual plan it can be most of the fee if the exception is read as one month, though Ring could argue the whole year is the billing period.

Will Ring monitoring work if I PCS to Guam, Puerto Rico, or overseas?

Ring's plans page says 24/7 Professional Monitoring is available in all 50 U.S. states, territories not included, and in Canada except Quebec. Ring Alarm ships only within the U.S., excluding American Samoa, Guam, the Northern Mariana Islands, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands, and Canada. Orders to one of those territories or overseas are the clearest case of a location that does not support a monitored Ring plan.
